| 1 | colesterol after heart stint | Constant ringing(crickets)in my ears.My skin itches and I sometimes break out in hives or rash. My feet burn and sometimes my feet and crotch burns. I have lost almost all the hair on my legs.I sometimes have hot flashes during sex and lately I have been experiencing a problem reaching climax during sex. No erection problem.I have alot of pain in my hips sometimes to the point I can't sit. | After reading this site I stopped Zetia yesterday all together. However after 2+ years my liver enzymes were elevated and the doctor recommended ultrasound. Dx: fatty liver. Then wanted a CT scan which I refused. Discontinued Zetia. My severe muscle pain and weakness slowly began to lessen. My tiredness improved almost immediately. At 1, 2 & 3 months my liver enzymes were still elevated. At 5 months they are nearly normal. I test negative for hepatitis. At this point I can lay on my right side--not possible before because of severe pain and my right arm is now stronger. I still have a bit of lower back/side pain but it is much improved. I have moved to a holistic M.D. for care as I would like to work on the cholesterol elevation through more natural means. My doctor kept telling me that Zetia is the milder of cholesterol lowering drugs and this drug doesn't have these kind of side effects. Because of all the pain I have had several tests for my heart. CT Scans, Untra-sound, nuclear stress test....the thought of putting the radioactive isotopes in my arteries and heart added even more stress. Mentally this wasn't a good situation either. I was feeling depressed and didn't care about anything or have any interest in anything. This was not like me at all. I had four months on the Lipitor and when the doctored switched me to the Zetia things got worse. The doctor did all these test instead of thinking of taking me off the Lipitor and Zetia. All these bad side effects just k | Tell your doctor all the problems you are having and refer him to this site. The doctors need to know what is really going on, not just get their informaion from the pharmasutical companies and their reps. This stuff in dangerous. I hope there is not any permanent damage. I have have been getting better everyday. I am still having headaches, forgot to mention this above. Almost back to normal but I was in very bad shape from this crap. I have been off of it for 9 monthe now and feel much better. After 2-3 weeks of being off of it the aches and pains lessened and the urinary issues stopped completely.I never thought the urine leakage was related to Zetia until about 3 weeks after I stopped taking it and the problem stopped! If Zetia has this effect on arm, leg, neck and bladder muscles, I can only imagine what it does to your heart muscle! Muscles etc. are now better with no issues. If you are on it, get off. Dr. basically told me I was nuts and that no one has these side effects.I told him to take it & see how he feels. There is an old saying (which many new MDs seem to have forgotten)...... Take a moment and listen to your patient they often can tell you a lot more of what you do not know. I have been on Zetia for about 18 months and as of this morning discontinued it's use (good riddance). My cholesterol kept creeping up, so I agreed to give Zetia a try. After 6 months, the gallbladder-type pain was intolerable. An ultrasound was inconclusive, and I was sent home with pain meds I didn't want. The doctor wouldn't agree that Zetia was the culprit, but I discontinued it anyway, and the pain gradually subsided. I gave it one more chance, and started Zetia again, 3 weeks ago. From day two, I woke up very dizzy. In the afternoons, I was so tired, several times I fell asleep sitting up. But the problem that sent me to the internet to search was the depression-like waves of sadness and some irritability. Thanks for all your comments. After only three days without Zetia, I'm almost back to normal. | Took Zetia about 6 months. Stopped for 3 months. Second time, only tolerated about 3 weeks.
