The flagyl was prescribed only as a PREVENTIVE measure so that the mildly invasive procedure didn't cause an infection. Within 4 days (!!!) I started to feel the disorientiation and pain in my back and legs...called the doc..took me off flagyl....however, the pain continued to increase over the next 3 weeks!! I was treated with oxycontin/percocet/valium for the pain. My doc suspected a back injury, however ALL tests (MRI, CAT scan, X-rays) were normal. I missed aprrox 3 wks of work after taking just 8 tablets total, not to mention running my car off the road on my way to work one morning!!! I've used it occasionally over the past 10 years but only as a last resort and only for a short time, such as one to two weeks. The worst side effect is the unbearable metallic tase. Sometimes it's so bad I want to rip my tongue out!
