| 1 | Bipolar Disorder | Excessive weight gain, compulsive eating | I was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Two years ago I was prescribed abilify. Within 3 months I gained 40-50 pounds due to compulsive eating. The eating got out of control. My self image was destroyed. I also started feeling restless, I couldn't sit still. I also started having heart problems/ high blood pressure. The doctors did not care that I was having this experience, they just kept me on it, even though it nearly killed me. It's effective for resistant depression. It gives me energy, motivation and better focus. The only problem is the weight gain, so to avoid that, I go to the gym, run and take Abilify 3-4 times per week. It's even more effective that way than taking everyday. I take in combination with Lamictal 200 mg, Pristiq 100 mg, Adderall XR 40 mg and weelbutrin XL 300 mg.
