Before Abilify i tried lamictal and latuda with little success. I also take 25 mg of Strattera which has helped my anxiety tremendously. Just like everyone says, medication is a trial, i have been trying to find what works best for me. Continual: poor working memory, poor cognitive function | The first couple of days were very unpleasant because of the adverse effects. These did pass pretty quickly though. After this my mood did become more stable straight away, and there was a reasonable mood improvement. Energy levels did improve a bit too and was able to concentrate on things more easily. The down side was that these benefits were pretty inconsistent, but maybe I would have tried the drug longer if it wasn't for the very serious loss of memory function and cognitive processing. This is something I can not accept. Thoughts would just drop out of my mind as if I never had them, and I don't believe this would pass based on other peoples experiences. Of course depression causes cognitive/memory problems, but things are considerably worse with this drug and are yet to return to previous state. Even when wearing tight shoes which makes my toes ache. I quit taking the Ability about a year ago because of this but this annoying side effect won't go away. I have to put Bandaids on my toes to keep from getting calluses. It is so bad that i wear holes through the Bandaids. I think this nerve wrecking side effect is permanent! I tried every med in the book and was in a mental hospital for 9 months. I do not get the akathesia, insomnia, or weight gain. I switched from Invega due to tenderness of the nipple. I notice this drug is used at its full potential by CLASSIC Bipolar 1 individuals. Bipolar 2 people it doesn't help with your depression. I used to take Abilify with Lithium but my Lithium levels were so low for a long time due to weight gain from Invega that I only take Abilify now.
