A big old f you big pharma and to all the drug companies you deal with. | M | 39 | 2 weeks Once 1X day | 7/3/2021 | 5 | Allergic sinusitis | Nose-bleeds, pimples on/near nose, hoarseness | I'm supposed to take this twice a day everyday during allergy season, but it gives me a migraine on the second day of use, so I only use it periodically--once or twice every couple months when my allergies are bad. The day after using it(either one or two sprays in the am), I consistently get a pimple on my nose, face or eye-area, without fail. I have swollen nasal passages all year long due to allergies and a deviated septum but this helps keep me breathing and opens everything up. But its only good for limited use. If I use it more than one or two days, I get severe migraines and usually by the second day, will sound very hoarse. It does open swollen sinuses, so you will drip/blow your nose frequently to clear things out. This is the best thing I've found but US doctors no longer prescribe it and it's a Tier3(are you kidding me???!) so I just buy it from the UK out of pocket. One bottle lasts 1.5 years or longer depending on use. The OTC versions/knockoffs do NOT work for persistent sinusitis and have way worse side effects. ALL STEROIDS can cause problems, they effect your stress hormones. Effects of Prednisone and anabolic steroids are taken seriously so why not nasal corticosteroids? Took Nasonex closer to two months, not one. Anyways, also had bad reaction from Flonase months before the Nasonex but at the time didnt realize the issues I was having were due to the steroids. Took me sometime to finally do research and confirm it was in fact these two nasal sprays causing me to go literally crazy. Also had brief encounter with Prednisone and decongestant sprays that caused issues too. It's been about 6 months since any steroids and sprays and I'm still struggling with some damage, mostly dizzy spells and severe anxiety/panic attacks. Took some time to get past the irritated throat that made it hard to swallow and acid reflux/chest pain. Not your run of the mill anxiety either....seriously debilitating panic. I feel like I messed up my adrenals with these drugs. Around day 4/5 I started suffering with blurred vision and slight dizziness. I also suffered with nausea and my usually mild anxiety worsened greatly. I visited A & E and had a sitting pulse of 136bpm this prompted the hospital to do an ECG which came back ok and to take my bloods which also came back OK. I also had 2 visual disturbances of flashing lights whilst on this nasal spray , and a weird sense in my vision field of lights staying longer in my vision after looking away from them. Ive not felt myself and felt disconnected as such , with slow reactions and little interest in anything at all , almost in a depressed state. I stopped taking this medication abruptly around 4 days ago as my sinus issues had gone, and because I was not advised otherwise and didn't realise as a steroid you're supposed to gradually come off them.
