Occasional periods of sweats, insomnia, high blood pressure. I had breast cancer 9 years ago and took tamoxifen (no effects) for three years and then Femara. Femara made me feel like I was 100 years old. I took for two years and then quit. I think that it was over several months that it made me feel that way. It seemed like it was a cumulative effect over time. So far, tho, so good with Aromasin. Almost immediately, had a craving for sweets; then at 2 months, severe mood swings, some Pain bottom of feet; At 3 months, shoulders and neck pain, severe insomnia; 3 months, nausea and dizzyiness. | The most dibilitating side effects for me, because I have to speak publicly in my work, is the naseau (It seems to sweep over me and then passes about half an hour). I had been taking right after breakfast, I am now going to take in afternoon. Still alive | I started tamoxifen in 2006 and was changed to Aromisin in 2008. I am on it optionally now, but I am truly scared to go off it as I am sure it is keeping me alive and micromestastes at bay. Quality of life is an issue thought and right now I cannot do the things I have enjoyed all my life, including dance. They switched me to Aromasin in February because of being post-menopausal. Feels like I have had one long headache ever since. Stopped taking it 4 days ago - does anyone know how long it will take to get out of my system? I didn't last long - 6 months - felt like 80 years old. My oncologist switched me to aromasin. It was tons time better! 2 years later - in last 6 months- I have severe pains and need Tylenol or ibuprofen daily. Legs, hips mostly. Most recently, I can't close my right hand into a fist and middle finger is "trigger" finger. Working out at gym seems to help. Feel sluggish but my family doctor has me on phentermine (30 mg) and I take it almost daily unless I sleep in. (insomnia if you take too late in day). Tired of pain and not being able to walk fast but will tough it out if necessary!! Question I have is does anyone ever get these little shots of pain randomly all over every once in a while? | F | 56 | 3 years 25 | 7/7/2012 | 1 | ER + breast cancer-total hysterect. | Rapid 30lb weight gain.foot and hand aches,no energy, carpal tunnel type pain in wrists, sad feeling and tired.VERY stiff in joints, especially after sitting or sleeping. Irritable!! Did I mention very dry in the Netherlands. I also took tamoxifen for >3 yrs and I prefer that drug to Aromasin. Hope it's helping but I feel lousy : ( | F | 40 | 6 months 25mg | 5/24/2012 | 1 | Stage 2B Metastatic Breast Cancer | Weight Gain, Nausea, bone pain, developed protruding growths on my tendons in my hands, foot pain, acne, menopausal symptoms even though I have already gone through menopause, water retention, craving for sweets, a veeling of fullness or heaviness all over my body. Only someone who has taken this drug should prescribe it! Of couse the drs don't tell you about the side effects because they have never taken it. My dr actually said and I quote " I can't believe you would go through Chemo and then question me about taking a little pill" I said the reason I was questioning him was because I was scared to death and I had cancer, all he had was a degree! I asked him did he have cancer? Has he gone through this? He said no, I said so pretty much you don't know the answer right? " He was so pissed off at me but I don't care, it is my body, my breasts, my life and I have a right to know. | I have 4 more years to go on this drug and I am afraid that it is only doing me harm vs getting rid of any cancer in my body. The chemotherapy I did for 8 months wasn't this bad. If I thought I could get away with not taking this drug and be "normal" again I would stop it in a heartbeat. Just typing this is making my hands ache. it is a horrible thing to not be able to discuss the side effects with someone who knows what they are talking about.
