It did wonders for eliminating the symptoms I was experiencing but at the same time it is bad for my physical health. In general and at lower doses I experienced: -Weight gain, I must have put on just over a stone, I was borderline underweight before this, but have lost a considerable amount of weight since higher doses. -I have read a lot about reduced brain function and cortical thinning from prolonged use of this drug and can say my memory and concentration are a lot worse and I am finding it hard to re-enter software engineering as a career because I cannot concentrate properly or respond to complicated interview questions quite so well. -I feel a sense of slight muscle twitching also. | I took many varieties of Olanzapine including Zyprexa for a long while as or dispersible tablets. This was taken to treat hallucinations, delusions and strange things coworkers were saying that I experienced at work (obviously a government conspiracy against me given I was waiting for a secret level security clearance, jokes). I'm still taking 2.5 milligrams of Olanzapine every other day and I am due to stop taking the drug altogether next month - yay! I have not experienced any severe hallucinations or delusions since I was last hospitalised and have since had some stable work in factories performing manual labour. Almost euphoric without the happiness, difficult to describe. | Taking 10mg Zyprexa at night and 5mg Abilify in the morning. Zyprexa definitely potent drug that does calm and limit Schitzoaffective symptoms. I became very sedated from this medication. I could sleep 18 hours a day on weekends and had to take naps during the week while working. I gained about 40 lbs in 4 months (going from 120lbs to over 160lbs.) After a few months I developed muscle twitches which progressed in severity. I was told that at night it seemed like I was having seizures sometimes. (This was treated with benzotropine.) I now question the need for this medication and would reccomend against its use.Eventually, with my doctor's consent I was removed from this and the Celexa I was also taking with out side-effects. Impossible to see the emotional response (distress) associated with particular thoughts and internal conflict. Assists in keeping BPD defense structures in place. Came off for 5 weeks, totally collapsed defense structures and i could feel again. Though excessively intense. Recommendation: just enough to keep you "edgy" but not so little you cant function, its a fine line. I gained 40lbs in no time and my mind was in a constant fog of lethargy and indifference. I didn't care about anything, I just wanted to sit around and eat. Zyprexa had fairly noticeable results, whereas zoloft, prozac, and depakote exhibited occasional side effects but not much else. | My doc says that the munchies are typical for anyone on zyprexa and weight gains of 50lbs + aren't uncommon. The worst side effects seemed to occur after I had been on 5 mg/day for several months. I gained 25kg in weight and my cholesterol went from normal to 8.4. (I have also been taking Remeron for depression and this may have also exacerbated my weight gain). After several more months on this combo, I have noted the following disturbing symptoms: intention tremor/apraxia with handwriting, vertical twitching of facial muscles (esp. cheeks), dyslexic typing on keyboard, inability to focus on task at hand, difficulty getting out of bed (want to sleep in), tiredness, feelings of despair. | Currently on 2.5mg Zyprexa in morning and Remeron 15mg at night. Feel like a zombie in the morning and usually wake up feeling depressed that I have to get up and out of bed!!
