| 5 | Anxiety | A little tired for an hour or two. Frequent bowel movements. | Love this med! Tried all the anti depressants over 15 years with no relief just terrible side effects. I am so much more calm, not 100 but loving the peace in my soul. Bonus was a relief from my RA pain and swelling. WRONG, 7 days now of withdrawal symptoms from this drug. Upset stomach, higher anxiety, sweats, crying spells. Never had those before, but everyday day I see a slight improvement from those terrible withdrawals, if the doctor says don't worry there are no withdrawals research you'll see there wrong and patients are paying the price. I have since cut back to 2.5mg/day and all is good. | I was started on 10mg day (5mg in morning and 5mg in afternoon). The first 2 days it moderately increased my anxiety for about 30 minutes after each dose. But on all subsequent days it eliminated my anxiety completely. In fact, too well. It eliminated all my emotions. I felt I was watching a movie of my life, instead of living my life. So I kept reducing the dose until I found the sweet spot at 2.5mg/day. Anxiety is 90% gone, and I'm not emotionally numb. Also, I find it to lessen some fatigue I had, which is nice. Would be very irritable and very aggressive for 5 or 7 hours, would go looking for a fight or argument which is unlike me. Also very vivid and violent nightmares when on this drug. Didn't have any anxiety anymore, but was more like not caring about it and looking for any reason to explode on someone. All immediately stopped after not taking buspar anymore. | Tried it a few years ago when I quit smoking and blamed those effects on nicotine withdrawal and Wellbutrin (ssri drugs make me feel like crap and usually give me the zaps) Was recently prescribed for anxiety and all those side effects returned. My doc talked me into trying it again expecting differant results and helping me quit marijuana because "pot is bad news". Regarding weight gain, I started eating carefully, stopped eating most high carb foods like cookies, & started walking for exercise. My weight went down & carb cravings became manageable.
