Went to after-hour clinic, doctor prescribed me pantoprazole and sent me for full abdomen ultrasound, blood work(CBC/lipid panel/creatinine), and ECG. All results came back normal and 1.5 weeks in taking the med I felt better. However, after 4 weeks in I started to experience side effects, the major ones are fast heart rate, dizziness, left chest pain in the front, back and on the side, accompanying with discomfort from abdomen right below left chest. It got worse on this Monday that I almost go to ER cuz my fast heartbeat combining with chest pain and nausea and light headedness, I tried deep breath and meditation and was ok in the afternoon.Then I stopped the med on Monday evening. The left chest discomfort is still there, it is recurrent for a few days now in every morning or whenever I'm hungry. Not to mention that after eating I feel bad gas on left side and pressure want to pass gas and poop. I thought I was crazy until I found this site, feeling a bit reassured. Felt like a fog had come over me with an increase in all the milder side effects I had on 20 mg except so much worse plus more scary symptoms like the tinnitus, dizziness and extreme anxiety. Absolutely unable to live on a med like this. My GI Dr. then acted like I was first patient in 30 years to have this many side effects. Put me on famotidine instead. Now having IBS symptoms back that used to have many years ago but with very bad stomachaches then diarrhea. These meds are ruining my life right now. Also extreme fatigue from all of this and insomnia. Stopped all meds and still having fatigue, bad stomachache, gas, diarrhea and just feeling sick. Now I’m forced to have surgery for this hernia because cannot live on these meds. I really thought I was loosing my mind I went to the same doctor about my anxiety and they were clueless that this medication was causing these side effects... I was too I just didn't make the connection until 2 months later I started researching and found this page and was like wow....... I'm now a month and a half off of it.... I'm still dealing with the anxiety and the ringing in my ears but I have a little hope. Everyone on here that has responded said they did get through the side effects but it just takes some time. I am now about 12 hours without taking Protonix and some of the side effects have eased off (headaches and nausea). Because of some problems i had 1 week before i took pantoprazole - i was in ER couple of times and my blood pressure was normal, so i know my body. MEASURE BLOOD PRESSURE because you will have problems with that, and that's from where your blurred vision and dizziness is coming from. 7 days off of pantoprazole i went to cardiologist and took Echocardiogram, and they found me harmless extrasistole, which i also had never before. But i could feel it at that time, now not after 20 days off of pantoprazole. Your chest pain, short breath is coming from effect this drug have on your heart!!! THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS DRUG, to the point that i still feel side effects even 20 days after my last pill, i am afraid that i will need a lot of time to recover!
