The first days didn't seem too bad, but shortly after beginning treatment I started having heart palpitations and shortness of breath. This then led to a few anxiety attacks that left me wanting to go to the ER thinking it was a heart attack. Thankfully I just convinced myself it had to be GERD-related and didn't go, but the anxiety was always there. I am not an anxious person by nature, so the overwhelming anxiety and then the attacks was scaring me. I even began to think I was going crazy. When I tried going to the gym to workout and keep myself healthy and my mind off of how I was feeling, my muscles felt weak and sore. The muscle soreness seemed to not fade much either. After 15 days I decided to stop taking the meds and see how I felt, and after about 3-4 days I thought I was getting GERD symptoms back so I started taking them again, and on the 3rd day of this cycle I had a raging anxiety attack while at work, once again contemplating an ER visit. The anxiety was so bad that I awoke the next morning still shaky from the prior day's attack. I did not take another Protonix since, and today is my 8th day off. I am still feeling side effects, however; yesterday I had an overall jittery feeling and my chest continued to feel tight and heavy. My muscles felt tired and sore yesterday evening, and I hadn't done anything strenuous.
