I stopped taking this medicine-it's side effects are not worth it! I will have a doctor prescribe something else next time. After taking for 3 days total (6 pills) I stopped. I had severe abdominal pain, my legs were very weak like I couldn’t hardly walk, tingling sensation in my legs, arms, couldn’t eat, burning sensation across my abdomen and bottom of my feet. | I lost a few pounds because of this. I couldn't barely eat because my stomach was hurting so bad. My legs felt totally weak like I had no strength. I am an avid walker who walks 7 days a week for my exercise. I contacted my doctor who agreed w/ me that I had bad reaction to it and told me to stop immediately and start drinking Gatorade as much as I could over several days and rest as much as I could. It took me a total 2 weeks after stopping Macrobid to feel back to normal - my appetite came back, my legs felt stronger again, the burning sensation across my abdomen lasted for a good solid week before going away for good - however before it went away - I had a Big Bang of severe burning (FIRE) pain across my abdomen that lasted for several hours that the pain was so intense that I couldn't even lay still because I was in so much pain moving constantly around the house trying to ease the pain. I had to resort to break out pain pills like Oxycontin (from previous surgeries) and w/in 15 mins the pain eased and went away and I was able to finally fall asleep. I had to miss work the next day because my terrible suffering the previous night w/ the Big Bang of Fire across my abdomen. This reminded me so much of an Steroid reaction I had several years prior that cause severe burning sensation but however Macrobid was 100 times worse when it came to the Burning Sensation.This drug should be BANNED - Don't know why it is still on the market!
