Once I was feeling better mouth-wise I tried eating some more solid foods only to find out that I had NO SENSE OF TASTE. I've stopped taking it as of this morning but I'm very unhappy. Had diarrhea and felt like I was going to puke at the same time. Had to take gravol and went back to bed. When I felt better I ate a piece of toast but couldn't taste anything. Started freaking out because we are in a global pandemic where loss of taste is a prominent symptom. Had diarrhea again. I am obviously going to discontinue use. I used peridex 5 months ago and got burning mouth syndrome. It has not gone away. The compound pharmacist told me that it strips away the protective coating in our mouth causing a burning mouth sensation. He said that it will go away once your body can reproduce the protective coating. He said take biotene dry mouth lozenges with pectin in it. He gave me a miracle mouth wash for bms that should help with the discomfort. A mix of lidocaine, gabapentin and amptryptaline. Will let you guys know if it works. Hang in there! I could not sleep through the night because I woke up with such intense pain. I have a high pain tolerance and I am very healthy and athletic. do not let my age fool you, I have dealt with chronic pain since I was 14 and I am very capable of managing pain. I woke up several times in the middle of the night grasping my mouth with intense pain, I was alternating taking narcotics and 800mg of Ibuprofen and sometimes I would still be in pain. I spent the night in a hot shower with a washcloth on my face on day three because it was the only thing that provided any relief. This was some of the worst pain I have felt in a while. I only discovered that it might be the mouthwash causing my pain after my dad randomly decided to do some research on this stuff. I am positive this is what caused it, because I only started having this pain after using it and it got worse after I rinsed with it. it is day 7 and I am discontinuing use a day early. it also burns like h3ll while rinsing. never had any bad side effects to any medications in the past | F | 18 | 4 days 15ml 2X day | 8/19/2020 | 1 | Periodontics cleaning | tingling in mouth, bitter and/or metallic taste, sore tongue all lasting hours after use. Overall feeling woozy almost like tipsy from drinking! | I will never use this again! Oracare is an alternative made by dental professionals as an alternative to peridex! AVOID this drug: too risky. There are alternatives of all kinds. For the person who just said that they'd not mind a bit of risk to treat bad breath, I find this ridiculous. If your issue is only bad breath, I'd see a dentist for teeth cleaning/doctor for alternate reasons. There are numerous alternatives to help including natural eg apple cider vinegar (a drop in water), saline water, oregano or frankincense (a drop in water) etc etc. There are safer mouthwashes including Listerine and Imporium. For more serious infections you can briefly use a tiny amount of hydrogen peroxide in a water (pls check with a physician for correct amounts and personal safety); in my experience it is much less reactive than chlorhexidine. AVOID. I used it 2 or 3 times within 24 hours ONLY to rinse my mouth, followed by water rinses; the third was at bedtime and I awoke with an absolutely dry mouth and throat and while that subsided with drinking water, I have for the past 2 months been unable to eat anything but an esophagitis soft diet (no acids; everything cold and soft/mashed). I have never had such a problem before in my life and I have not previously had an intollerance; IM extremely healthy, athletic and have an excellent diet. Just recently, when I tried a drop of rosehip since my doctor thought I'd nearly recovered, I then reacted with chest pains (retrosternal esophageal pains) due to inflammation/neural irritation Wanted to add: I also recommend Vicco ayrevedic medicinal paste for gum infections and oral issues. I reposted this as a follow up since I've been now reacting to this evil chlorhexidine poison for 2 months, recovering extremely slowly and doctors are unsure when I'll be better (maybe a month one said, but we dont know for sure, and the slightest mistake I make such as trying a tiny drop of something more acidic slows down recovery). I can only eat cold, mashed or soupy, nonacidic foods. Cant even eat chicken (only fish, eggs, some legumes and veggies/nonacidic fruits). Need to know how long it took to recover, etc. So as I'd said, 12 days ago now I used this mouthwash 3 times (only in the mouth; not as a gargle). It worked quickly for the infection. But after the 3rd rinse I went to bed right away and woke up with an extremely dry mouth and throat. I drank water and the dryness soon resolved, but ever since then I've had extreme dryness (not real "pain") and irritation in the esophagus and a little dysphagia (food and water often go down a little slowly). I've had to switch to an esophagitis soft diet. There is a feeling of roughness part way down the esophagus. I've seen the GP doctor twice and she says the redness in my throat has not changed. I had diarrhea (as in very soft stool) the first two days which then went to normal, but now for the last 2 days I've had it again (I've getting it when I wake up). I also have symptoms of low absorption of nutrients which is a concern since I'd already been reacting severely to flora depletion from an antibiotic, so this is reviving the paresthesia (tinging in hands and feet) that I'd had before from the severely low flora (and thus low magnesium) that had been improving with good probiotics. I'm still taking the probiotics since I'd not recovered yet from the previous issue. So I'm very concerned about this as it is intensifying the previous problem. | F | 1 days | 12/18/2019 |
