| 1 | Prostatitis | Extreme anxiety and depression. Hopelessness, sadness. Loss of appetite. | I don't really know what to say - other than the doctor advised there shouldn't be any psychological effects of the med - but that's NOT TRUE. It didn't take more than a day before the anxiety set in; and it quickly became and stayed debilitating for the entire duration of the med. Against my better judgement, I finished out the med under the doctor's orders regardless of how I was feeling. After completing the med, I didn't see any change for about a week. After a week, I slowly saw improvements and was able to reduce my anxiety med (that had to be prescribed in the midst of this) however, I am still not the same. This med has changed me, I fear, forever. My thought process is different and I can't shake this anxiety that's always there. I wish there was an alternative to bactrim but for my situation, there wasn't. The antibiotic did do the job, so I have to give it that credit. Please be aware of the mental effects you could be facing during/after taking this med. I searched on this site for hours reading reviews trying to justify my insane anxiety and depression; to find several people in the same boat as me. I can only hope that nobody else has this adverse reaction to bactrim. Prolonged afterimages in vision during daylight hours (1). Diarrhea (2). Urination normal (1,2) (how it was before treatment, still a little foamy). Knee pain ceases (on day 1). Energy is back to normal (on day 1). Heart rate back to normal (on day 1) | Can't tell if UTI has been treated successfully since several side effects (even after treatment) mirror how I felt beforehand. Frustrating. I second what someone else said: these pills are huge. They're like women's multivitamins. Very uncomfortable to swallow. I did not like ruing my medication alarm going off, scared to take the dose and counting down the days until the treatment ended. If given the option, I would prefer to not take it again.
