FLOMAX  (TAMSULOSIN HYDROCHLORIDE):  Tamsulosin is used by men to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia-BPH). It does not shrink the prostate, but it works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and the bladder. This helps to relieve symptoms of BPH such as difficulty in beginning the flow of urine, weak stream, and the need to urinate often or urgently (including during the middle of the night). Tamsulosin belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha blockers.  3  Enlarged prostate Dizziness, fatigue, no ejaculation (after 1st dose). After scope Doc told me I had the prostate of an 82 y/o not 52 y/o. First 3 days very dizzy. Has helped with flow. Last night slept though without having to get up. Has relived the "start" pain when urinating. The no ejaculation thing is Very weird, almost not worth it. Doc told me it goes into bladder so just a "that moment" it freaks me out. Also having a dull pain in left testicle. This site is great since it's hard to talk about this. That said, has anyone noticed enlargement since have a cystoscopy? Does the no ejaculate thing go away? Any suggestions for alternative. Tried "Super Beta Prostate", guess it didn't work. M 52 4 days

 3  stone tight scrotum, burning sensations while ejaculation, dizziness, low libido, som back pain, i had all these symptoms and have been very worried that is there any permanent sexual side effect there? but guys what i have experienced is, side effects are bad but they go after 5-10 days of quitting the drug, and you become normal.  3  BPH On it for 2 weeks. Was urinating every 1-2 hrs and about twice at night...now, going about every 2 - 3 hrs. Definitely takes a long time to kick in. Would rate it as "just alright" and waiting for better results. Erection is tough to come by...worried what will happen the longer i stay on this med. M 47 2 weeks

 3  Prostitus Retrograde ejaculation. Pounding heart for about 30 mins for the first hour after taking it. Shoulder joints and ankle joints hurt in the mornings. Stuffy nose. Sore throat. Cold type symptoms. M 40 2 weeks

 3  BPH, UTI Stuffy nose, not normal sex, this med DOES work to empty my bladder so that I do not have any UTI's. My union stopped paying for brand Flomax. I went on generic (tamsulosin) the side effects became intolerable, stuffy nose,throat, not normal sex. I went back on brand Flomax and paid out of pocket $500. for 90 pills. Side effects was very minimal but was breaking my wallet. I now buy from U.K. and pay$170.00 for 84caps of brand Flomax. Side effects are now much more tolerable. M 71 6 years

 3  Very slow urine flow and dribbling Rapid pounding heart, a little lightheadedness, constant persistent erections, semi frequent bedwetting. So nice to be able to pee normally again, great volume no more dribbling. Side effects not great but not debilitating M 55 2 months

 3  Kidney Stone Can't hold the urine, few or no ejaculation, pain after I stop to take, sleepy This medicine make the urethra relax to pass the stones in my case, but when I stop a day after was hurt me urethra and my bladder, sadly I don't have any more choices to pass the 2 stones I still have in my kidneys.  3  BPH Nasal congestion, cough, chest congestion, retro grade ejaculation, muscle soreness and weakness. Medication has considerably improved urine flow and overall output, as well as needed frequencies. The side effects are considerable. Don't think i would take this for long term resolution.  3  Enlarged prostate Sinus pressure, facial pain, jaw and ear ache, pain behind my eye which actually woke me and prevented me sleeping. Blurred vision. Became lightheaded and dizzy with a pounding heart when going from sitting to standing. This would interfere too much with my daily life to put up with. Only had for 1 day so I don't know if these effects subside with continued use, but the pain is too significant to persevere and find out. I believe it works, as my urinary flow rate increased slightly after just the first dose, but honestly, for me, I'm not sure it's worth the trade off to be in excruciating pain from the side effects, but able to pee normally. I may return to it but for now it's too intense. M 31 1 days

 2  Kidney stone Retrograde ejaculation I used tamsulosin (Flomax) to aid in passing kidney stone fragments following shock wave lithotripsy. The medication relaxed the bladder neck muscle and prostate to allow the stone fragments to pass. However, this caused retrograde ejaculation. The relaxed muscles allowed seminal fluid to flow backward into the bladder. There were no forceful involuntary muscle contractions and no pleasurable fluid release from the penis, although I did have the instinctive urge to flex my hips like a normal ejaculation. I felt no discomfort when seminal fluid flowed into the bladder, just a feeling of fullness that was relieved later during urination. Overall, sexual satisfaction was diminished by 50%. No issues maintaining a firm erection, responding to stimulation but because I did not have the physical relief of expelling seminal fluid from my body, I felt frustrated at the end of sexual activity.
