| 1 | Pregnancy prevention | The first month went great. The following two weeks after I have been bleeding on a heavy period non stop. I called the doctor crying, and they said it was normal the first three months. However, this dissipated over a few weeks. Slight weight gain and increase in appetite, but I can keep that in check easily. Experienced some sensitivity to smell, which if unpleasant can lead to headaches, but is manageable if I drink some water and relax for a minute. Increase in libido, decrease in acne. Had a regular period the first month, then spotted twice over the past month. Missed my period the second month, and had some slight cramps. However, nothing unmanageable thus far, and my body still has about another month to adjust to it. Hasn't caused any serious problems, just riding out the weirdness of the first three months can get to you. Just be aware of what's typical for your body and take it from there. Thus far, the worst part was the first month dealing with the psychological side effects, but like I said, they're pretty much gone and my moods regulated. Physical side effects haven't proven to be much of a problem. I will update next month should anything change. I expect that everything will regulate and get better, because the aforementioned physical symptoms show themselves for about a week at a time, then go away. So, it might earn a higher rating from me yet. This one has been the worst. I had to switch from Generess Fe to Junel Fe for financial purposes; 1 month of Generess went from $25 per month the first year to $60 this year. I loved Generess Fe; no side effects (especially no nausea) and no additional weight gain! This pill is horrible! I have been experiencing some of the side effects listed as severe and "rare". I am constantly uncomfortable, I am always experiencing chest pain..to the point where I feel as if my chest will explode, I have been vomiting since 7:30 last night, my period has not come this month - whereas last month it was extremely heavy and long. My vagina is secreting way more fluids than normal; very uncomfortable, I have to wear a panty-liner every day now. Although I have experienced severe migraines since the age of 13 they have been increasingly worse. I was recently heavily bleeding from my rectum for about a week straight (it was as if my period was coming out of the wrong orifice). Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with this product and I DO NOT RECOMMEND any one to use this - although it is a cheap pill ($25) it is not worth the side effects ladies. TRUST ME! Look for other equally priced pills, and complain to your OB GYN so that he/she may not prescribe this to other women. After a week, it was worse, which didn't make sense, so I went to the doctor, who said it was BV (bacterial vaginosis). By then it was too late. The bacteria had spread into my bladder, and even though I took all kinds of antibiotics, the bladder inflammation would not go away. I had interstitial cystitis, one of the worst diseases imaginable. Imagine "permanent UTI" and the doctors don't help. Because of the IC, I developed pelvic floor dysfunction and pudendal neuralgia (nerve pain). It was over a year before I figured out what I needed to do to fix my bladder, but by then, it was too late. I have permanent muscle spasm and nerve pain in my pelvic floor. I have lost the ability to run or have sex without pain. I will probably be this way for the rest of my life. It is all thanks to Junel. I’m 18 now and last year around March my insurance switched me to Junel. Sometimes I get my normal Microgestin again, but rarely. The thing is I don’t remember being bloated for a whole month and my acne running wild when I was on Microgestin. Lately its been really bugging me. Yes its normal to break out before your period and get bloated but I don’t. My face clears and I get thinner in the waist. Then when my period is over and I get uncomfortably bloated and my acne gets very bad, not only on my face but everywhere, especially on my thighs. And this lasts till my next period. I don’t know if its from switching to Microgestin to Junel. I do know they are pretty much the same thing. I have the lowest dosage of birth control. When I started taking birth control my breast size went up a cup, which is fine.
