Im giving an update. I saw a naturopath specializing in hormone conditions. She had me do a 24 hour urine hormone test... It revealed a lot of abnormalities that are not observed on normal hormone testing. Normal hormone testing only captures the amount of main hormones in your blood (not in your tissues and does not capture any info on many hormone metabolites and detailed cortisol levels) In any case, contrary to the blood test which was all "normal" in reference to extreme ranges that are not optimized for sexual functions, the 24hr urine test revealed that all my hormones starting with DHEAS, testosterone, and estrogen were extremely elevated beyond normal ( a cascade effect) Excess testosterone gets converted to estrogen and this is where she thinks my sexual dysfunction symptoms are coming from. In addition, my cortisol levels and oxidative stress levels were very high due to weight gain, eating unhealthy food, and high levels of emotional stress...this is very bad for sexual function also. She has recommend that i tackle this from all directions. A) Reduce cortisol B) Reduce inflammation C) aromatase inhibitors D) metabolize and excrete excess estrogen and hormone metabolites. The side effects have persisted for 4 months after stopping minox. I saw the endocrinologist. I did full hormone testing. All tests were normal. Submit the report on medwatch-report a problem-consumer report....for canada-submit online also. Google it. You can submit an online report in any first world country to the regulatory body. Do not count on doctors to do this because they surprisingly have no obligation to do so. The FDA only requires 1 or 2 well documented and accurate reports to take action based on the report. Also they have to be able to determine that minoxidil was definitely the cause. Please keep this in mind and make it your prioritu to submit unexpected adverse events to your countrys regulatory body...its the best thing you can do.
