Don't give up. I decided to write this because two years ago I came to this forum and found a lot of comments of people who, like me, had been "castrated" by minoxidil. I took it only for a month and got the worse side effects just the same. I used to be into muay thai, exercize everyday ans had a good diet. Minoxidil destroyed all of that. I couldn't lift or run for three months. It also made my libido disapear completely. Looking at my girlriend naked or at porn had the same effect as looking at a rock. But then my penis started getting real erections again. And slowly it went back to normal. It took more than two years for things to normalize completely. But I'm back to normal. So I'm writting this here so you people don't lose hope. This is my theory, I believe Rogaine contains minoxidil, a chemical that was previously used as a blood pressure medication (normally to lower bp). So when u take this having a generally low bp, your brain will go into dysautonomia, this is when the brain is unable to regulate the body processes, of which one of them is blood pressure, hormones(others including breathing, hormone regulation). As a result, u get rapid heart beats, anxiety (caused by hyper activated nervous system), depression e.t.c. Furthermore your brain is the one that signals your adrenals, thyroid and testicles to produce the required hormones. Somehow the rogaine affects the brain to stop producing the required hormones , one of them is testosterone, hence the popular Erectile Dysfunction. This is how I treated it: I took the following supplements: Vitamin C- 1000mg Quercetin- 500mg B-Complex- 50mg Omega 3 fish oil- 4500 mg Vitamin D- 10000 ius (lower dose after your levels have gone up) Magnesium Glycinate- 250mg Nicotinic Acid- 50mg Zinc- 15mg Selenium (every other day) D ribose- 5-10g per day (stopped take this in a month as it was giving me anxiety) Co Q10- 30 mg (I stopped taking this in a month cause I was make my arrhythmia worse) I was also doing breathing exercises, good diet, good exercise, fasting, intermittent fasting. After awhile I switched to twice a day because I wasn't really feeling any side effects but that was an awful decision. After about a week or so of taking it twice a day I started feeling very restless and had panic attacks. For reference I have NEVER had a panic attack before using Rogaine. My heart rate felt like it was faster and I really had trouble sleeping. I did not realize it could be the Rogaine but once I did, I tried to switch to only one application a day to see how that worked. Switching to one application a day got my heart rate under control sort of, but it was still not how it once was. I genuinely felt more depressed, more anxious, and only really felt like sleeping. Yesterday I stopped taking Rogaine completely and have thrown away the bottle because I would rather lose my hair then to experience these side effects. Rogaine may work to grow your hair back, but there is no way that it is worth the side effects. Does anyone know how long it takes to get rid of these heart palpitations and the constant pounding sensations? Please email me if you do.
