| 3 | Anxiety Disorder | I started 10 mg of celexa at end of May and it helped after about a month but I still have bad days where I feel like really disconnected and just can't enjoy anything and other times I feel just fine. I talked to my dr. about going up to 20 and she prescribed me 20 mg but I'm just worried to take it because I had horrible side effects when I started at 10 mg. | If you've had a similar experience and can provide advice please feel free to email me i would really appreciate it. | F | 22 | 3 months 10 mg 1X day | 9/3/2021 | 1 | Anxiety and depression | I am writing in retrospect about this drug that I took in 2012. Something went wrong while I was taking it when I was changing dose from 10mg to 20mg and it caused me to have a severe mental breakdown making me totally suicidal. I was rescued by taking 120mg Duloxotine although it took me one year to stop being suicidal. Citalopram is not safe. DON’T TAKE IT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Got put on this at the same time as a friend who mortgaged his house to feed his gambling obsession. For 36 hours. I thought dying might be preferable to this, but also felt dying was in the realm of possibilities... It was miserable. To be fair, I was supposed to start with only half a pill, and didn't realize that wasn't a "suggestion" until it was too late. However, half a pill was still too much for my husband (who started it at the same time as me for ongoing depression) and we had to go get him a half prescription and cut that one in half (20--> 5 mg). As it wore off, I did "feel normal" for a few hours before being depressed again. So I guess it could work, but I think I'll try some alternatives before I try this again, since my depression is pretty mild. (Gabacalm, St. John's wart). | Husband is overweight... 270-ish? I'm 135 lbs. I don't take any other medications. This started on day 7 and has not gotten worse (now day 10). Oddly my sleep has actually improved. From day 1 I never felt like I was on medication and my anxiety improved 100 %. I still have panic attacks but they are few and far between. No other reason for the side effects have come to light, so we are trying the change. I started Lexapro as a replacement, but stopped that after three weeks due to side effects. Just taking the Buspar now.
