Heart racing, heart palpitations, headaches, excessive sweating, poor sleep, tingling in hands, extreme anxiety, restlessness, uncontrolled crying, paranoia, suicidal ideation

I had been taking flonase a couple of times per week for about two years. April 2026: I took flonase at my maximum prescribed dose of 2x/nostril 1x/day for 7 days. My mental health became extremely severe, even as someone who consistently manages their mental health symptoms with an SSRI. I would wake up sweating from head to toe, heart racing, heart palpitations, burst into tears for no reason, I had no appetite and ended up losing 11 lbs. I became paranoid of my loved ones, thinking they were tampering with my medication or food. I talked to multiple doctors they didn't take my experience seriously. May 2026: I began to experience suicidal ideation. I didn't have plans to or desire to take my life, but the mental pain I was experiencing from this medication with no end in sight was consuming me. Another time, I had to go to the ER for racing heart and heart palpitations- I am fine, it was just "anxiety" (AKA this medication). I had to up my SSRI to the highest dose. August 2026; I am doing so much better. I know how horrible it feels to be assaulted with these physical symptoms with no end in sight. Please know that these symptoms will end at some point and you will return to your baseline. It is obscene that our side effects from this medication aren't taken seriously until we advocate for ourselves several times over. This medication and ANY steroid, including something as innocuous as an inhaler, must be taken with caution.

Horrible anxiety, panics attacks, depersonalization, and insomnia started in the 3rd month of taking this.

Do not take this if you are prone to anxiety, it is dangerous!

Completely crashed my adrenals and endocrine system that was already under stress due to mold exposure (unknown at the time). Took a year to get out of crisis mode, and another year to mostly recover. Head fullness jaw tightening up, weird sensation In left arm/face/leg. Mood swings sadness depression hopelessness , panicking feelings, sense of doom! Thought I was going crazy until I found out the side effects everyone else was having ! I can't believe this stuff is still on the market and the drs don't even tell you !!

Do not take this poison ! I've been going out of my mind wondering what is wrong with me for months. I've went to the dr having blood work, carotid artery ultrasound thinking I was having strokes ! I'm due for an MRI checking for mini strokes or MS thinking I'm dying of some disease this has been a nightmare for me and my family !!

Severe Anxiety

Took this stuff for 8 days, a little over the recommended dose. Anxiety skyrocketed to a 8-9/10 fairly quickly. Luckily, I figured out that it was the flonase after doing some googling. Day 26 since stopping and STILL have raised anxiety - maybe a 2-3/10. Apparently this happens to lots of people and recovery can take months. DONT TAKE THIS POISON

Saliva shortage, impossible to do an empty swallow

Where to even begin. Was told to take 2 sprays once a day in each nostril. I felt horrible and extreme panic by 6-8 hours after first dose. I took it for 3 days straight. During that time I lost all desire to do anything. I was fighting the flu but still this was worse than the actual flu. I wouldn't leave my house, sleep in my bed, had to be in the living room on the couch in a more open area. I didn't eat maybe 400 calories those entire 3 days and that was chicken and stars that I drink down. I will never be the same after this. I haven't slept in 4 days. Anytime I fall asleep I jump and startle myself awake.

If you are sensitive to any steroids which I am, do not take Flonase as it is a corticosteroid. I didn't know that until it was to late. It's been 38 hours since my last dose and I'm seeing a tad bit of improvement but not a lot. Headache and brain and exhaustion too

UNBELIEVABLE ANXIETY depressive like state and terrible tension in my chest felt like I was in a fight or fight every second of every day, especially when I didn't take it because it causes withdrawal but once I stopped, I returned to baseline within a week and a half or two weeks maybe and I felt amazing again, right back to baseline.

I became very anxious have bad headache feeling like and dizzy I went off it after 3 months of dealing with that hoping it would go away and now I'm 3 weeks off and each day is a little bit better but very slow recovering

heart racing, high blood pressure and high heart rate

I started taking this on 12/09 but did not notice anything until 12/14 when I woke up with heat racing, but did not put 2 and 2 together until today 12/15 when heart was racing so I took my blood pressure and it was 150/100 with HR over 100. Kept taking my blood pressure and it did not change. I am so .glad I found this site, I was going to go to the ER. I started making arrangements for my dog to be cared for if something happened and removed the lock off my phone so my relatives could have access to my phone...I was preparing for the worst. BP has gone back down to normal, Praying to God it does not happen again and hope everyone recovers completely. God Bless you all

Headache, sore throat on one side, nausea with abdominal pain/GI issues.

Terrible sudden vertigo with violent vomiting- er trip by ambulance- couldn't stand light for 2 days, raised blood pressure, tinnitus, ear fullness, and finally heart palpitations- which is what made me look up side effects of Flonase. Guess I'm back to no allergy relief. Other otc meds give me bad side effects- depression and muscle pain.

Anxiety, Panic attacks, crying spells, depression, tiredness, confussion...

I took It for 2 weeks, i started to have a slight morning anxiety one day, Next two days another bigger attack and after 8 days i started the crying spells and my first Big panic attack. And theres where i stopped my medication. Next day the crying spells dissapeared 90%, but anxiety in my Chest continued, all phisical, i wasnt sad or having racing thoughs. 6 days from that i felt great, and 7th, and 8th i felt again anxiety, now in my 9th day since i let this poison and hoping It will end soon :( Dont take this drug is pure poison no matter what your doctor days.

Insomnia, anxiety, stabbing pains in head, extreme head pressure.

So miserable, not worth it!!!!

Anxiety, panic attacks. Migraines

Took Flonase for roughly 20 days. Had bad anxiety about 3 days into it which I expected as it’s happened in the past. However, this time I was on Flonase much longer. 4 days after stopping this steroid, I had went into full blown panic mode/ psychotic episode. Spent a night in the hospital- this went on for 2-3 weeks everyday. Lost 10 pounds. Extreme fatigue now coupled with various other issues. This was the most intense experience of my entire life.

Panick attacks, anxiety, heart racing, gasping for air when trying to fall asleep, headaches, etc

This medication sucks! I'm so upset! I've played sports my entire life. I've never experienced this before. I never even take medicine; then of course, when I do. It's stealing my joy. I cannot freaking sleep! It's driving me insane! Every single time I dose off, I jump up gasping for air with my heart racing. I went to the emergency room and they told me everything is fine. I want to sue them. Seriously. I had a sinus infection with fluid in ears if anything. I told them I had the flu.

Dizziness, heart racing, tension and head pressure, disorientation, panic attack, recurring and heightened anxiety.

Dr. suggested Flonase for fluid in my ears that was causing an overall uncomfortable feeling. Took first dose and didn't notice many physical side effects but did notice I was feeling rather panicky. Like my flight or fight response was on edge.. the next day I skipped the Flonase but still felt anxious.. I went to the ER with a combination of head pressure, arm tingling and disorientation.. plus a HR over 150 in the waiting room (because I had no clue wtf was happening to me). The next time I took it was 2 days later.. which again left me feeling weird but I continued on. The following day, I had my first ever panic attack (I have zero history of panic disorders, etc). I stopped everything after this as I was overwhelmed and anxious about everything- every day. The panic feeling left but the overall anxious feeling remained for weeks.. then after 2 weeks I took flonase again- and thats when I knew- it hit me within mins after my dose- insane dizziness, panic, eye blurriness, head pressure, hot flashes, all at once. Who would have known, we all thought we were doing the right thing and ended up getting incredibly sick from this drug. Do not use!

Made me feel mentally disconnected did not help my symptoms as expected.

Was not impressed and even store brand is expensive. I only felt like I had minimal improvement

bad anxiety, heart palpitations,gi issues,severe abdominal pain,loss off appetite,nausea,vommitting,sensitivity to light, eye floaters, insomnia,diarrhea, frequent urination,sound sensitive,tingling feeling in hands & feet, groggy, lightheaded, sinus pain, headaches,migraines, derealization,depression,irritability,loneliness,cold sweats,chills,shaking,dizziness,eye strain/pain,fatigue. Any symptom I had it. Flonase debilitated me, I started taking it January 2025 inconsistently for vertigo/fluid in ears. That's when this nightmare started started with anxiety thought I had a sinus infection did a video call for urgent care she gave me script for anti. Did those ended up with so much head pain I literally couldn't sleep at night ended up going to er 1st time did a ct scan blood work everything was fine. Still inconsistently taking it next went to urgent care because I just wasn't getting better they didn't really do much told me to do Flonase for my ears & vertigo for 2 weeks I did it for a little bit still bad anxiety heart palpitations just feeling overall sick. Fast forward to 3/19/25 I got a bad vertigo bout was desperate for relief started taking Flonase everyday on the 23rd I went to er for severe stomach pains they didn't nothing gave me ant acids sent me home. I just kept getting worse went back to ER on 26th again gave me ant acids sent me home told me to wait to s

Be your own advocate listen to your body. Don't trust these dr pushing this stuff on you full disclosure I'm just speaking from my own experience with hopes this will help someone but if these drugs work for you that's also fine too.

This drug is awful. I have felt so crazy the past few days. I have mild anxiety to start with but started taking flonase 2 weeks ago with no problems then two days ago I woke up with the most severe anxiety, panic and ringing in my ears. I brushed it off to not sleeping well lately ( now I know its bc of the flonase) thinking it would be better today -but its only gotten worse! I feel like I am going insane! I am so thankful I found this site. Wish I knew how to get this poison out of my system quickly.
