1  Stuffy Nose I started taking flonase, two squirts in the morning, daily, for 8 days. Had a panic attack at work the next day. Extreme anxiety, insomnia, tingly feeling in arms and neck, suicidal ideation, loss of appetite, loss of smell, loss of libido, and depression. I was 38, happy, active, and healthy and this has turned my life upside down. I could hardly work and had to ask my HR for workplace accommodations. Google "Steroid Induced Psychosis" and "HPA axis" to learn more about this rare reaction. DO NOT TAKE Prednisone or other steroids if you had this happen. There is a great discord link below for people who need a support group to talk to that has been super helpful in my recovery of now 6 weeks. https://discord.gg/rTJ9Dn7fCp M 38 8 days

1  Sinusitis Dizziness, shortness of breath, extreme panic attacks and difficultly sleeping It’s been three weeks since I stopped taking Flonase and I’m still suffering. I had to be put on a leave of absence and I’m not able to drive. Please if you’re reading this review do not use this terrible nasal spray. It makes you feel like you’re dying. F 51 5 days

1  Allergies After the second dose I was very depressed, sad and withdrawn. I was very tired. After the third dose I woke early in the morning having depression and a panic attack, for almost 3 hours. I was having serious suicidal thoughts. I was crying uncontrollably. My depression, sadness and hopelessness have continued all day. This happened today. I had three bouts of suicidal ideation. I am glad I found this post. My doctor doubts my connection of Flonase to this sudden depression/anxiety/panic and I do believe dissociation. F 50 3 days

1  Allergies My ENT Doctor that I started going to after NOTHING worked for my allergies that my primary doctor prescribed, told me to cancel everything and do Flonase, two times in each nose once a day. He told me I could just purchase the generic version from Walmart and it's extremely safe for use. It definitely helped with my allergies. I have GED and take hydroxyzine as needed for anxiety attacks. About 2 months into using Flonase, I was randomly at work and got lightheaded. I kinda thought it was allergies, and made an appointment with my ENT. Prior to my appointment I couldn't sleep, and noticed my feet tingling and felt like the room was spinning and just felt so off. Along with random chills, or goosebumps when I was outside in summer heat tending to my farm animals lol. I proceeded to go down a rabbit hole and thought I had some crazy disease, and suffered an extreme panic attack. Which also sent my visual snow into a whirlwind, which I always had but my anxiety brought it out. It was AWFUL. I went about my week extremely anxious, went to my ENT who shoved a camera up my nose and said my sinuses are fine, and diagnosed me with migraines. I started getting light sensitivity, and what felt like extreme eye pressure specifically on my right hand side. It was weird. So I went to a specialist to check my eyes who said my eyes are healthy. So I kinda was just focussing on myself, self care, trying to just get through my anxiety and made appointmen Continued from above! at the suggestion of my ENT. While all this was going on I noticed my jaw kind of tingling, and a weird pressure coming behind my nose, and occasionally my vision would get out of focus. I really started freaking out, and got extreme neck pain and back pain (which I've had before and go to chiropractic regularly) but it was accompanied with weird headaches that started at the base of my skull and went upward. I even changed how I sleep and bought special pillows thinking my neck or a pinched nerve were causing my issues. I continued to feel awful and 2 days ago I was thinking about anything I've taken that's new. The only thing I changed in my life was adding FLONASE. I immediately found this reviews and stopped. I am feeling slightly better but not 100% after 2 days of not taking it. I'm hoping the effects slowly disappear and I understand it may take time. Please do not take this medication if you already have anxiety! I literally spiraled due to the side effects of this medication and I thought I was literally dying of a disease. I'm hoping to slowly feel better as the days go on. I can not believe an OTC medication did this lol, and I did use it properly in my nose! There were a few times I laid down too soon after taking it and tasted it. F 29 2 months

1  Allergies Follow up to previous post: I had every single horrible side effect mentioned in the comments below. Follow up: Don't give up. You will get better. It's horrible but you'll make it through. Warn everyone you know about this stuff, especially for those who are giving this garbage to children. I hope somebody is suing. Also a tip for the extreme depression-decaf coffee made me feel better. It boosted my mood. I never experienced anything like this. Wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.. F 41 3 days

1  nasal congestion I haven't had this much anxiety in years! I attributed my symptoms of night sweats, racing heart and thoughts to peri menopause, but thank GOD that I had the realization that it could possibly be this medication. Thank you all for posting your experiences and helping me to realize that I need to stop this drug immediately and tell my doctor. F 50 7 days

1  vertigo, ear pain extreme anxiety, heart palpitations, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, insomnia, intrusive thoughts, dissociation/derealization, feelings of doom and fear, unsure if my surroundings are real, confusion, and shakes never take this stuff. its hard to tell if the flonase is whats causing my symptoms since ive been fine using it for a few months, but honestly it probably is. the last week ive been dealing with lots of dissociation and anxiety, and some panic attacks. somehow i had convinced myself that nothing around me was real and that i was going to die. i already struggle with OCD and anxiety, but never this bad. im still having a very difficult time breathing properly and remaining calm. heart palpitations are through the roof! i bought sleep aid and ashwagandha, so glad i did. taking both at night has helped me fall asleep easier. ashwagandha is great during the daytime too. i would recommend (with proper research- it doesnt work for everyone). currently still recovering so ill update if i have any more symptoms. but seriously, stay away from flonase.  1  Ear Pain due to allergy induced ETD Extreme Panic Attacks, Anxiety, Nervousness, Restlessness, Feelings of loneliness, Wanting to cry, Shortness of Breath, Chest Tightness & Discomfort, Tingling and Burning sensation in arms/hands/sides/legs/feet, increased dizziness & nausea, headache, racing heart, fatigue, lightheadedness, insomnia, night sweats, muscle jerking, chills, feeling flush, eye pressure, loss of appetite, minor blurry vision, green stool. Problems started in May, been sick on and off. Tried allergy meds. Pain came back in July but was using sudafed. Was doing things I enjoyed, sleeping fine. Finally saw ENT on the 22nd of August and he recommended a head MRI then told me to take flonase again even after I told him how sick I had been before. Thats when the nightmare started. On just the second day I started experiencing pins and needles and then had a massive panic attack. Thought I was having a heart attack but heart is fine. Had MRI on the 25th and results came back normal. Ear pain was slowly coming back more than it had. I kept using it per doctors instructions until day 8 (Tuesday Aug 29th) where it was impossible to function. Couldn't sleep, couldn't get out of bed. Had to stop it again and threw it in the garbage this time. Its been 5 days now and still having issues. The heart racing is extremely unnerving and can't sleep. Body will jolt awake the moment I relax and it feels like im constantly on edge. Horrible night sweats. Haven't cried yet but been on the verge many times. It has made everything feel so hopeless. Im not able to do anything. Ive already lost 10lbs just pushing fluids and eating mostly yogurt & bananas. Finding this page has made me feel not so alone, but I just wish this would be over with. It seems completely random based on the individual how long these side effects last. Listen to your body!! Should have stopped completely on the second day but didn't realize what was going on M 42 8 days

1  Allergies / Vertigo Update from original post - 5/30/2023 3 months later from my original post and I'm finally able to have my mental clarity start to come back. I am able to work , able to sleep , able to do normal day to day things. I am happy I'm recovering , however I still don't feel back fully 100% yet. It does get better , hang in there. The side effects can be very overwhelming especially the anxiety / derealization / and insomnia. I have muscle spasms still but not often, I sometimes still have vivid dreams - I don't wake up feeling as depressed anymore. This stuff can be very scary to experience. But again, it does get better. One week of this made me feel like crap for 3+ months. Please be careful with what you take, I am no longer going to use allergy medicines. M 24 5 days

2  Pulsatile Tinnitus Immense head pressure, headaches (migraine, sinus, tension, cluster, and neck), pain in cheek bones, tingling through left side of body, fingers, and toes, left side body falling asleep for no reason, pins and needles, muscle twitching, eye pain, ear pain and pressure, neck stiffness and tightness, anxiety from all the above symptoms Was supposed to use Flonase for 3 weeks 2 sprays per nostril. It provided relief for a few days for my PT. But my health drastically went downhill. The 4th and 5th day after stopping Flonase I started experiencing numbness, pins and needles, and tingling on top of headaches. Went to the urgent care and the doctor ordered an MRI. Fortunately, the results came back normal. Not sure if all the side effects were caused by Flonase but reading about other people who had a similar experience gives me some reassurance. Still need to get to the bottom of what's causing my PT. F 35

2  Eustachian tube dysfunction I was prescribed flonase for pressure in my ears apparently it's supposed to help make them feel better after a while of using flonase. I already have bad anxiety as it is , first day using this product triggered panic attacks, heart palpitations, fast breathing , a bit of dizziness, basically a full blown panic attack. Did some research and apparently flonase is known to have those side effects. I feel upset that the doctors did not let me know any of this . Please consume at ur own risk take care whoever is reading this. F 19 1 days

1  seasonal allergies all of the following were mostly extreme: anxiety, agitation, paranoia, restlessness, sore mouth and gums, dizziness, bad taste in my mouth, insomnia, intrusive thoughts, wanting to jump out of my skin (or off a bridge just to make these feelings go away!!), hopelessness, depression, crying, anger including feelings of rage, wanting to give up, panic, shortness of breath, depersonalization, body aches, headache, bone pain, numbness in various parts of my body, overwhelming thoughts of struggle, canNOT sit still at certain times within a 24 hour period after a dose. There are probably more symptoms I am forgetting because my mind is not working very good right now!! OMG I thought I was crazy until I read these stories of patients having most of my same symptoms!! Just reading them has helped me feel better because I know it is not just me and I am NOT crazy! This stuff is POISON and should be OFF the market. I am surprised it is not. I am so thankful I only took 1 spray in each nostril instead of 2! I am so glad I only took it for 2 days too. I hope that means this will ALL pass in a few days because this is brutal! F 71 2 days

1  Allergy & Vertigo Paranoia, Anxiety, Insomnia Intrusive Thoughts, Adrenaline Rushes, Panic Attacks, Nightmares Feelings of Hopelessness, Depression, Diarrhea, Fear Took this for 6 days to relieve vertigo caused by sinuses , I felt OK the first few days then started to feel really jittery and out of place. Things got worse on the 6th night , I suddenly slipped into paranoia & a state of psychosis. The next 4 days after that were extremely rough. Checked myself into the ER got blood work done it was "OK" and sent to a therapist. I've still been dealing with the symptoms 3 weeks later. This drug should be banned. I'm sure there are many more people dealing with these symptoms and might think they're going crazy. It is a surreal feeling and has messed up everything. I cannot work due to this and I cannot even go to the grocery store without feeling like I will pass out from anxiety attacks. I pray I continue to get better and will stay positive. If you are suffering understand you're not alone and stay strong. Please I advise anyone reading this to add themselves to the discord in one of the threads below for support from ongoing sufferers.  1  seasonal allergy relief This stuff is poison... I began taking Claritin alongside Flonase, and nighttime Mucinex pm as my allergies and sinus pain hit me like a ton of bricks in mid April. Continued taking this garbage combo for a month, as it collectively seemed to keep my symptoms mostly at bay for a bit. Until it didn't... and I felt like it was making me way more brain-foggy, depressed and irritable than I've ever felt. Anxiety went up a lot as well. Just generally feeling like I'm numb and totally muted, and I've been off of this poison combo for about a week now and I still feel like blehhhhh and not my normal self. I've recently signed up for Curex, a natural immunotherapy company that offers a spray that you take for about a year that will (fingers crossed) cure my allergies naturally by this time next year. Stop taking this poison crap from big pharma. I feel like a zombie from this stuff and I regret not trying the natural route way sooner. M 31 30 days

1  Eustachian tube dysfunction Steroid psychosis, extreme mental distress, constant adrenaline surges, panic attacks, horrific intrusive thoughts, extreme anxiety, depersonalization, derealization, crying, joint pain, headache, lightheadedness, nausea, tingling Do not take this medication if you value your mental and physical health. I legitimately thought I was losing my mind for days after stopping this medication cold turkey. It does get better but I would never wish the withdrawal period on anyone as it is cruel and unusual. It may take your body a while to rebalance, but it will. 23 days
