| 1 | vaginal yeast infection | Rash/blister on finger | I was prescribed Diflucan for a yeast infection. Soon after taking it, my ring finger started to tingle followed by itching. It then became inflamed and sensitive to touch. I was told that it was cellulitis. I was then put on prednisone, which causes a yeast infection so I had to take ANOTHER dose of Diflucan and the same exact thing happened again to the SAME finger. I explained to the doctor that this is not cellulitis and it has to be an allergic reaction to the Diflucan. I was then told that if that is the case I wouldn't have the same reaction in the same place. Boy was he WRONG! He also told me that all anti fungal medication has the same agents and that there was no substitution. So instead of taking the prednisone to heal my finger...I just had to endure the discomfort which lasts for about a week! I know physicians have a degree but they should pay close attention to their patients for we know our bodies! Diflucan has DEFINITELY changed!! | F | 41 | 1 days 150 MG | 12/26/2016 | 1 | Breast fungal infection | -eczematous red plaques around eyelids and other areas of face/cheeks/upper chest - patches of dry skin appeared on day 5 of therapy - full blown dry, flaky, inflamed, thickened skin rash on face in shape of butterfly that appeared on day 8 and looked purplish in color - swollen eye lids - skin peeled with fluids | I started diflucan 400 mg on 11/21 for breast fungal infection due to pumping and noticed tiny red bumpy rash on my torso and arms, which I thought was my pregnancy rash that's coming back. OB put me on prednisone 6 day dose pack and day 3 of prednisone (day 5 diflucan), I noticed spots of dry patches appearing on my face. I thought it was the original rash, but it flared up 3 days later to covering my entire upper chest and face. I stopped day 6 of prednisone thinking it was reaction to it, but rash still remained and didn't improve. Finally, stopped taking diflucan yesterday 12/4 and I'm seeing a slight improvement in the rash. After 1 year of CT scans every 3 months the nodule started growing and he put me on the meds. I have an appointment with the Mayo clinic this week to see a doctor in infectious disease. This is speaking from experience of fighting systemic yeast for 5 years and trying 12 different anti fungal treatments. A simple google search "herxheimer symptoms" will explain that most of these negative diflucan reviews are from patients that have a serious underlying yeast problems, that blame the drug for doing what it is designed to do: kill yeast in every area of your body. I am thankful for flucanazole, no other treatment penetrates deeply into most all tissues of your body to stop the yeast. The last straw for me, to seek RX treatment was fungal arthritis. It has worked perfectly. Sad that doctors don't know much about " herxing." It sounds like a lot of the patients would have benefitted from this drug if they did not run away at the first reaction. Dealing with yeast is a bit like a behavioral intervention, things get ugly , loud , worse, then they get better than ever. | One month into treatment Good side effects: as much energy as when I was 20 years old. Don't need caffeine, sleeping much less at night, joint pain is gone, no more carbohydrate cravings, emotional stability that I haven't experienced in years. Negative side effects: localized and temporary itching at various infection sites (legs, face, eyes, arms). A few sharp but brief headaches ( Google "Alzheimer's candida"). A few sharp but brief pains internally.
