Today is the second day and I had the extreme scalp itching and tingling again all day but now it's accompanied with full body chills, flushing and tingling in my cheeks, inner ear pain, sporadic heart palpitations and burning eyes. | I took this medication over the summer and I don't remember any side effects from it but I do know I have experienced severe hair loss recently. I took the medication again a couple months ago and I remember having the itchy scalp but had no idea what was causing it. My hair loss has continued to be significant but I didn't think about this drug being the cause. Really wish I wouldn't have taken it again because it is only going to worsen my hair loss experience. The hair loss must be related to how itchy my scalp gets when taking this! I will say it cleared my yeast infection symptoms within a day but I'm not sure if it's worth all of the awful side effects I've experienced. Bad headaches started two weeks in. Headaches got so severe had to be rushed to emergency room. Brain swelling due to super low sodium. I had my sodium levels taken before I started this drug and they were perfect. Blood pressure also went out of control. Within an hour period it would fluctuate over 100 points this continued until I stopped the drug. Tachycardia also set in. Had to stay three days in the hospital and they still was unable to get things under control. Headaches continued with severe swelling in face and lips by third week. I was so weak I had to stay in bed, when I would get up I would pass out. Doctor finally determined that it was the Diflucan that was causing all these nasty symptoms. Within a week of being off this deadly drug most symptoms have gone away, but slight headache and muscle aches continue. I have taken this same drug numerous times in the past 30 years and this is the first time I have had any reaction to it. Finally realized it was all caused by taking this drug, which was a very expensive and scary lesson to learn. Now taking probiotics to restore the good gut bacteria that this drug apparently annihilated. Starting to feel better, pain is starting to lessen. This drug is either too powerful, or the side effects need to warn of debilitating stomach pain that may result in an unnecessary trip to the nearest emergency room. Powered through the 1st dose, went for dose 2 the 2nd day and had similar symptoms although the drop in bp and bpm was not noticeable. Day 3 before taking it all day my mind was in a fog and I had photosensitivity; bright lights bothered me or looked different if stared into. I took the 3rd dose and had the same high/drunk feeling that slowly went away over the course of a few hours. 4 hours in I began to have tremors, tinnitus, and labored breathing. Not to mention the insomnia and wild lucid dreams when I did fall asleep. I do not exactly feel like myself and have not had an appetite for 3 days unless I force myself to eat. I also had minor low potassium last time I got my blood checked before taking this pill. Interesting to know that this drug contains lactose which I have an allergy to and gelatin (as most pills are encased in gelatin). I 0/10 would not recommend this pill to my worst enemy. Called my pharmacist as my doctor is away until Monday and although she said these rare adverse reactions are not life threatening, that it was up to my discretion wether or not to stop taking the medication and to call my doctor as soon as I can to report a possible | Side effects got worse over the course of 3 days.
