| 1 | sinus infections from allergies | At first the Nasonex helped but after a few weeks became ill, lethargic and unable to do normal activity. Have been doing a nasal wash every day for 8 months now. After 5 rounds of antibiotics went to ENT for chemical cauterization 3 times. Extreme depression, anger, raging, insomnia worsened. Doctors and pharmacist told me these symptoms were not possible with Nasonex. Took myself off Nasonex and after 1 week the depression is lifting, the anger and raging are also subsiding. I have been treated before for depression but, I have never experienced the saddness, anger and raging that I have in this past 7 months of being on this medication. I am now trying Nasacort AQ and for the first time in that 8 months my face is pink where my sinuses are. I will be very attentive to how this medication works on me. | F | 61 | 7 months | 4/11/2008 | 1 | seasonal allergies | aggression, nightmares, mood changes, unusual thoughts | Nasonex was prescribed for my 7 year old daughter. It worked great from the first night. After 5 days we discontinued it because she changed! She had mood changes, aggression, nightmares, difficulty in school for the first time ever, and had unusual thoughts. Such as; she came to me and said she had an overwhelming desire to touch the hot stove and then burst into tears. It took almost 2 weeks to have our daughter back to her normal pleasant self! Though the medicine does seem to help control the drip to an extent, the side effects are not worth the small benefit. My sweet-tempered child has become irrational and angry with constant mood swings, is anxious, apparently is hallucinating, and is having nightmares and night terrors. As the side effects have gradually worsened, I only recently put two and two together to realize it is the medicine. My vertigo did not improve at all so I went to urgent care. The doctor took one look inside my ears and said, "Your ears are full of fluid. You have an ear infection. You need antibiotics." This was very frustrating news as I had already missed 2 days of work. I got on the antibiotics but didn't stop using Nasonex - I thought it could only help, right? Well here I am 5 days later, I have had the flu (viral infection is a side effect of Nasonex!), body aches, severe headaches that last all day, ear pain (probably not related, but here it is anyway), plugged ears, one nostril is still plugged, I have a crazy backache that won't go away even with a hot pad on it on high, and eyeball pressure. I stopped taking Nasonex yesterday (it's Friday) so hopefully these symptoms won't last all weekend. A doctor told me that if you use saline drops before using nasonex it will prevent this, and for me it did. However because of the rest of the side effects that I discovered here today I am not going to take this anymore. I have been to every doctor under the sun over the last several months trying to figure out what caused this, CAT scans, ENG test, computer glasses, wisdom teeth removed, TMJ, etc. I was diagnosed with a vestibular disorder a couple of months ago. On my own I stopped taking all vitamins, nasonex, etc. last month and I started to feel much better. Last night I took Nasonex and all of my symptoms returned. It was like a nightmare all over again. At least I finally now know what caused this. I plan on following up with my ENT and a GOOD LAWYER next week. DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE!
