Been on the former two for a little while back in April '08 for the same reasons (allergies and excessive mucus in rxn to dust, roaches, and my dog), and had the same side effects I'm having now. The addition of Prednisone (20mg/once a day) may be making the side f/x more severe (I AM NOT SURE on this, I haven't consulted my allergist yet). My vertigo did not improve at all so I went to urgent care. The doctor took one look inside my ears and said, "Your ears are full of fluid. You have an ear infection. You need antibiotics." This was very frustrating news as I had already missed 2 days of work. I got on the antibiotics but didn't stop using Nasonex - I thought it could only help, right? Well here I am 5 days later, I have had the flu (viral infection is a side effect of Nasonex!), body aches, severe headaches that last all day, ear pain (probably not related, but here it is anyway), plugged ears, one nostril is still plugged, I have a crazy backache that won't go away even with a hot pad on it on high, and eyeball pressure. I stopped taking Nasonex yesterday (it's Friday) so hopefully these symptoms won't last all weekend. I have never experienced such pain and I just didn’t know what to do, I was in such a panic., It had got the tiniest bit less painful but still extreme about an hour on. Within 2 days, the problems caused by the stuff were gone, but as the days went on, my body felt weaker and weaker, it felt like my heart was having a hard time beating, and I was extremely depressed. 4 days after quitting, my period started...but it had just ended 9 days before, and I’ve never had any sort of menstrual irregularity in my past. Going to my doctor tomorrow to see HOW I can get off Nasonex without falling apart. I took it in conjunction with flovent (another inhaled steroid). The heart palpitations were so intense that it would wake me up in the middle of the night. After 6 weeks of taking nosonex and 3 weeks of taking flovent, my allergist told me to stop both medications cold turkey. Well, this is when I went through some sort of withdrawal. I had such severe anxiety that I was put on xanax. In addition, I would feel depressed for no reason at all, and I have NEVER been depressed in my life. It also felt as though I forgot how to fall asleep. I got about 3-4 hours of sleep each night but I was never tired!. Finally, one day about 3 weeks after stopping nasonex, I felt like a truck smacked me, and I couldn't stay awake no matter what I tried. I slept for 11 hours that night, and when I woke up, I didn't have the anxiety, depression, or insomnia any longer. I am now on my 5th day of finally feeling "normal".
