2  Bipolar II, rapid cycling dizziness, rash, difficulty concentrating, headache Didn't help the mania at all. Didn't help the migraines. Helped the depression a bit but not as much as many other meds. The rash is awful. Now I'm trying to figure out how quickly I can quit taking it. Any ideas? Links to web sites would be helpful.  3  Prophylactic following gamma knife Bad sleep, brain fog, memory loss, focus/cognition problems Cant sleep cause you have constant dreams about meaningless stuff, or cant get your brain to shut off? If you have problems with sleep, these are changes Id like to pass along that have gotten me to a manageable place. -I was taking 50mg morning and night. I found that about 2-4hrs after my morning dose I was basically a zombie. My Dr suggested doing a 100mg once a day pill extended release in the morning. Tried it in the morning, still dopey, so I started taking it at night as I was getting into bed. So if I’m dopey like 4hrs after taking it - who cares im sleeping -I started taking vitamin b complex, fishoil, magnesium for several months now, helped with cognition too -i started listening to a 10min meditation on my phone after i turn off my light that focuses on “body scan” you wouldnt believe how much tension you hold in your body that you arent even aware of - jaw, shoulders, etc. i go to bed as soon as im remotely sleepy even if i dont want to. This is my routine now. I fall asleep more quickly and i wake up feeling reasonably rested to excercise. Melatonin was useless. F 38 18 months

3  Sleep seizures Restlessness during sleep (toss and turn and wake up often) -Constant spots/ papules on neck and face (these went when medicine was stopped 23.4.2022) -Severe heartbeat roughly every 4-5 weeks. Any time of day from no cause, up to 190 bpm lasting 10min to 6 hours. The waiting time to see a cardiologist is about 8 months. -Cherry angiomas (red spots, freckles/ moles) appearing on my legs, torso and scalp. -thinning hair. Im 44 and my hair has reduced so I can see my scalp through the hair. -anxiety/ panic attacks (not in my nature to be anxious). They are more like moments of brain fog, confusion then panic. -Issues are exaggerated before menses. Sleep is especially affected. -I am always tired and feel unrested. -also moments of severe depression (also not in my nature) especially around or during menses. Action I would like: -Smaller dosage tablets, down to 2.5mg. -more to be done to stop the initial cause of the medical problem / seizures. -more mindful resources prescribed instead of brain altering drugs. -more research, even medical trials using actual doctors so they can fully understand how this drug affects the brain and body.  3  Epilepsy - Clonic Tonic seizures I have restless sleep. I have intrusive thoughts and replay things in my head over and over. If I get a song stuck it my head it will stay stuck for two days. My anxiety is through the roof. I have a hard time falling asleep. I had to figure out the medication myself.. the doctors did not warn me of this.. If you take the two doses too close together, you will not be able to fall asleep and if you do, you will feel like your still awake but your mind is drifted off. My memory is horrible. I constantly try to remember names of simple things and I just can't. Eventually I'll think of it. I'm not hopeful to find an anti seizure med that doesn't have horrible side effects. It seems like they all do. I tried keppra at first and "keppra rage" is very accurate. I've been seizure free since I started taking consistently Oct. 2021 but in June 2022 I had an aura and was able to stop it from happening by putting my head between my legs while sitting down and it stopped it from happening F 28 1 years

3  Bipolar episode Increased need for sleep- sleeping 11-12 hours. Benign fasiculations all over my body. Both of these subsided when I stopped taking it. I have some restless leg symptoms since taking this medication, not sure if it's related. Seemed to improve mood, however mood also improved as life circumstance improved. I discontinued and haven't been depressed since. F 47 90 days

3  Seizures, depression, PTSD, anxiety I have been experiencing a considerable amount of loss in coordination, I cant even walk in a straight line without teetering to one side and almost falling. My brain feels tingly and I get severely light headed when I move it up and down (and sometimes side to side).I have had terrible insomnia to the point of staying up for three days in a row. I sometimes get these moments of intense nausea where I feel like I'm going to throw up. I find myself increasingly zoning out of conversations and have a hard time retaining memories. I have noticed that my speech and conversational skills are lacking and I have begun to competely forget about how to pronounce certain words as well as remembering them. I have been having severe muscles pain in my shoulders and neck to the of point no being able to move them past a certain point. I have had minor weightloss and little to no appetite, sometimes I only eat one or no meals in a day. Currently I am at 250mg per day, but in two days I will increase to 300mg(150 in themorning and night). This making me worried because I fear my side effects will worsen to the point of injuring myself by simply walking/knocking into things and gaining an alarming severe vertigo when I move my head. Also I have developed a small bug bite like mark on my stomach and it kinda freaks me out because it might turn into a rash. I have not had seizures, depressive episodes, or forceful intruding thoughts; but this might be short lived since I am only at 13 weeks. F 20 3 months

3  Depression Severe memory loss, spelling difficulties, reading difficulties, confusion, acne, blurry vision. I experienced no side effects in the first year or so of taking Lamictal, but then in the last couple of years the cognitive problems have slowly gotten worse. I routinely forget conversations I've had, go into rooms many times a day and forget why, have trouble spelling and understanding simple concepts. I often feel confused and out of it. It is a nightmare and I am currently coming off the medication because of these issues. I know not everyone experiences these issues, but for me they are severe. Would love to hear from anyone also experiencing these types of difficulties. Will leave my email. F 4.5 years

3  Anxiety Disorder No significant side effects This is the only medication I've taken that hasn't presented any noticeable side effects. It felt genuinely effective for about the first ten months of taking it, but I noticed the dosage gradually increase without any improvement in my mood swings. It was moderately helpful short-term and gentle on the body. F 16 3 years

3  Seizures Doctor had me on 200 mg a day because that's what the PDR said to do. It was way too much. I started having problems with language. All of a sudden I couldn't spell and I would sometimes use the wrong word for objects. I asked my doctor if I could try a lower dose and he said no. This despite the fact that I stopped having seizures once I took the lowest dose that they start you out with when first taking the drug. I live in a State that gives doctor's the ability to yank your driver's license if they think you are a seizure risk. So I started titrating down on my own and didn't tell him. I was extremely cautious, going from 200 to 150 for at least 3 months, then 150 to 100, 100 to 50, then 50 to 25. (I did this by separating the 100 mg pill in 1/2, then 1/2 again). At 25 mg I had a slight "aura" so I went back up to 50 mg. 50 mg seemed to be the correct dose for me. My side effects were greatly reduced and I haven't had a seizures in years. I hate it when doctor's won't listen to their patients. F 45 8 years

3  Epilepsy HAIR LOSS! fatigue, trouble staying asleep at night, balance issues (although this could also be a continuing result of encephalitis) and indigestion. Seems to be controlling my seizures, together with the other medication. Only had one seizure since taking it and that was during the delicate phase of eliminating one med and introducing this. I am concerned about the considerable hairloss and fatigue, though. F 30 4 weeks

3  Epilepsy When I first Started taking this medication I became very Moody. I expressed to my doctor I thought that it was from medication but was told it was probably depression from my recent diagnosis of epilepsy. I was put on antidepressants but because this anti-depressant can cause seizures they increased my lamictal. I have headaches, very blurry vision, extreme irritability and rage, stomach pain and memory loss. Can't find words or mix up what I'm saying. Very confused. Itchy. After starting increase 1 month ago, I've been crying, yelling at my boyfriend over nothing, social phobic, and can't retain information. Made the connection finally. I reviewed by medical records and found that I had been telling my doctor for almost a year-and a half that I believed it was this medication. They convinced me it was side effects from the seizures but I know better. My Dr agreed it makes sense with the increased dosage and increased symptoms i need to stop this med. Did help with seizure control F 46 15 months
