Co-workers told me I don't look so grouchy these days. I feel quite relaxed. No weight gain so far. | Dr. had me take sleep study and diagnosed "Restless Leg with PMD." None of those meds worked, and the rebound pain from Requip is unbearable. I am diabetic, type 2, but not taking meds. I haven't slept more than 2 hrs at a time in years. I was miserable and tense which only made it worse. I take so much prescription meds (thyroid, Reglan) that they are starting to react funny. I have to be very careful to space everything so as to keep any bad reaction to a minimum. With Neurontin I slept through the first night in years on a 300 mg dose, but symptom were back that afternoon, so I read up on it, and asked Dr. about 3x or as needed. I don't usually need all three. It worked right away, unexpectedly! So far I have stayed on that dose. No side effects, no increased appetite. Sleep is fine. It sounds silly, but I feel like a new person. After 10 years of headaches and migraines and vomiting etc etc...I have my life back. No painkillers or migraine meds since...It looks like too good to be true. In the beginning I felt a bit high, but that slowly turned into anger, rage, irritability and moodiness as the days went on. I also was so insanely tired that I couldn't keep my eyes open at my desk at work. I was supposed to go to 300mg three times a day as per my Neurosurgeon. I was taking 300mg a day. | I also have arthritis in my lower back which makes it hard for me to walk. On the second day I thought neurontin was a miracle cure, I was able to do thingfs I hadn't done in almost a YEAR. on the third day felt loopy, slurred speech, had to stay in my wheel chair (i'm on dialysis so my body doesn't get rid of it, hince the low dose) thought the combination of hydrocodone and neurontin was the cause so I stopped taking the hydrocodone. I've read a lot about people gaining weight on this drug, but I had the opposite -- lost five pounds because I was UNABLE to eat. | RUN, DON'T WALK FROM THIS MEDICATION -- IT SHOULD BE PULLED FROM THE MARKET! I only took this for a short time, but the side effects were extreme, and are continuing. I only took for the amount of time I did because doctor said "it takes some time for full effect to kick in." I thought maybe the ill effects would subside after a little time. I am lucky to still have my job as I got so confused on the drug I could not complete even simple tasks (that I had been doing for 23+ years). This alleged drug to STOP pain actually caused me to have MORE pain in the end, and I truly thought I was going to die when my throat began to swell and close. From what I've read from others, there should be a class action suit brought against the makers of this drug. I can just only pray that I haven't gotten any permanent damage from having used this crap. Next, the effect became less noticeable and after about a week, I was more anxious than ever. I felt crazy, out of control. I stopped taking the medicine and gave this information to my doctor. I just read tonight about all the suicides and attempted suicides allegedly caused by this medicine.
