| 1 | migraine headaches | Took one Aleve with water for migraine. Within 20-30 minutes skin itched BADLY. Wife said, "You itch? Nope, you look like an Easter egg-dyed red!-except for a long narrow, normal-looking, white line going all down your spine. Maybe another Aleve would fill that space in for a perfect dye job!" Next: "You're going to the doctor. Get dressed. NOW!" Doctor gave me prednisone. Red, miserable, exhausted all day. If prednisone helps, it's taking it's sweet time. | Aleve: wonder drug for over a year and then attacked me today!! Doctor said (1) drug sensitivity/reactions can work that way - they can come out of the blue (2) you can't lie down for an hour after taking Aleve (3) stay out of the sun with Aleve - can get a bad sunburn (4) I can't take Aleve - PERIOD! By 530am my eyes were swollen almost completely shut along with my forehead. by 8 am my whole face was swelling up more. called the dr and he looked at me and asked what i had taken. as soon as i said aleve he said you are allergic to it. but i had been taking it for 15 years or more and he said this is normal. Within 10 minutes both hands were itching incessantly. Itching spread to the crotch, feet and lower legs. I couldn't find any specific warnings on the Aleve container so Googled it and found this page among others. I immediately called my Primary Care physician for instructions. Within 15 minutes of presenting symptoms I was at a nearby Kaiser Permanente facility checking myself into the Nurses Station where I was fortunate enough to be seen immediately. They were closed for lunch and not due to open for another 30 minutes, so I had no one ahead off me. I was fortunate to be able to be treated by doctors and staff who were then available. Before leaving home at 12:45pm my bp was 160/116 with heart rate of 112. At 8:45am this morning it was 115/84/75. I was immediately given a shot of Benadryl followed up with a steroid I'm unfamiliar with. I felt relief from the itching in my hands very quickly and t | I have been taking Aleve for over 20 years with no previous side effects. My last dose of Aleve was 3 weeks ago when I ingested one tablet for relief of pain in a broken wrist which was still in the early healing stages. At that time I had been taking Aleve one tablet per day for about 7 days with no side affects and with excellent relief for the wrist pain. The first time I didn't even realize I had an allergic reaction because less than I week later I got shingle and my Dr. thought the hives were part of the shingles but then a few weeks later it happened again so we knew it was an allergic reaction. Soon after I noticed a general feeling of being "loopy" and not myself. Then when people asked me things I would struggle to put full responses/sentences together. My sense of balance was slightly off and I was nervous. Last symptom took place about 10 minutes after my nervousness set in I began shaking like I had the chills but did not really feel all that cold.
