| 5 | SAD, depression with weight gain | The name brand- NONE Generics= horrible side effects. Tried several generics, ended up high for 3 hours every morning, then crashing. Cannot use ANY of the generics. | Seriously different drugs if you take the name brand vs. the generics. No enteric coatingon the generics, means the generics dump all the drugs into your system in the first few hours, leaving you in the gutter. Pros: I do feel more positive in general and less of the sense of hopelessness that my depression always caused. basically quit smoking, on the days I have a cigarette it's like one a day. Weight loss (5 pounds in a month). More energy, more motivation. Getting along better with people. More sociable. Less sugar cravings. Not feeling like I need to smoke weed 24/7 (which is a big one for me) | The only side effect that really bothers me is the anxiety, I was already kinda a hypochondriac and this seems to make it worse. Thought about asking the Dr for anti anxiety meds but I am also anxious about taking those bc I'm scared I'll get addicted. I think people might be happier if they started with a lower dose and raised it gradually until they felt normal, and then stay there. Since I take it only seasonally, I start taking 75 mg. a day in the fall when I start sliding into Seasonal Affective Disorder depression. By December I am up to 3 times a day (the most I ever take). By mid March I am tapering off, 2 on one day, 1 on the next day, then 2, alternating. The first day I felt slightly speedy, but I welcomed this feeling since I am normally lethargic and unmotivated to do anything. The entire first week was AMAZING! I felt free from a mental prison I had been locked in for so many years. I was able to feel happiness, to focus, and to get a lot of basic things accomplished (which my ADD wouldn't allow me to do before). It has also done miraculous things to my body in such a short amount of time: It gave me energy to be active throughout the day, it made my digestive problems (acid reflux and Irritable Bowel Syndrome) completely disappear, and it has cleared and softened my skin tremendously. I have high hopes that this is the right medication for me. The increased sex drive and double strength orgasms are a bonus! | Today is my ninth day on this drug and I'm slightly worried because I've noticed some depression the past two days.
