After weaning off (and experiencing side effects each week), my Crohn's is very active again. Calmed the UC flare-up. Doctor's recommendation was to take it first thing in the morning to coincide with the body's natural release of cortisol. To counteract the loss of calcium he also suggested taking Calcium (1500 units elemental - 500 three times a day with breakfast, lunch and dinner) and Vitamin D (800 units - 400 twice a day with breakfast and dinner). It is a terribly nasty drug with horrible side effects but without it, I would be bedridden. Prednisone or Pain?
