| 5 | High Blood Pressure | None. | I was experiencing high blood pressure, sometimes in the range of 150/85. More often it was in the 145/80 range. Along with the high blood pressure I sometimes had dizzy spells and on many occasions could hear and feel my heart thumping. I was prescribed Lisinopril, 20 mg daily. When I picked up my original prescription the pharmacist told me possible side effects included dizziness and sleepiness. She suggested I take it at night because "if you're in bed asleep you won't feel the side effects". She was right, I have felt no side effects at all. I tried almost all bp meds and they all gave me crazy side effects. Lisinopril is the last one and I have no other choice. Some days are fine, some days I get a tinnitus, cough, numb hands, neck and back aches, my mouth swell like a tomato (indication of meds reaction). For days I had severe tension headaches, pins and needles, tingling and water drip sensation all over body, it interacts with coffee or milk tea, but most of all, the crazy palpitations which is scary because i have to take Metropolol 25 mg with me everywhere I go now, so I can take it to lower my heart rate, or I will faint and end up at the ER. I get these palps once or twice a month now. I'm hoping it's not messing with my heart permanently. I'm a regular at the ER now ever since I take Bp meds. Labetalol, Amlodipine, Losartan. Doctors also think I'm just overacting or having anxiety. They referred me to chiropractor who ended up messing up my neck bad, physical therapist, acupuncturists, Physical Medicine, etc. I'm so scared to change or stop meds because it sky rocketed to stroke level 180s/100s+ everytime I tried, and it soo hard to control the Bp I think it's called a rebound hypertension. When you take the meds again, it'd make your Bp go up even higher for some reason. I had to double the dose | I really hope that I won't get anymore crazy Lisinopril side effects to the point where I'll have to stop taking it. On a side note, i don't know what else to take. Two years ago, I woke up and half of my body was weak and numb. I thought I had a stroke but nope. Turns out it's the Amlodipine. I got CT, MRI of head, neck and back multiple times but negative. My dad takes Amlodipine, when he suddenly gets an irregular heart rate that goes down to 35 and 37. He took Losartan too and it messed up his kidneys (low creatinine). Lesson of story, all these meds has crazy side effects. Started doing a little bit of research. I just found out that you should not be having high levels of potassium. I had been eating lots of watermelon and avocado had no idea. I should not be mixing need to see my doctor ASAP. Didn't take it for one night and woke up in the morning and my blood pressure went up to 131 over 86 Wasn't happy with that So I took it again. I don't know I can't have my blood pressure high but this pain is cruciating which is worse. I just know I need to see my doctor ASAP. Stopped taking it due to sever cough. Blood pressure got high again, we cut my dose down to 2.5mg. Seems to correct the cough but for the last 2 years I have been suffering from EXTREME back and neck pain. And all over joint pain. I stopped taking the meds accidentally for 2 days and noticed a huge improvement in pain. Now I'm wondering all along if it's been Lisinopril. I was still having breakthrough blood pressure spikes from once called benign hypertension. First they tried amlodipine and it made me sad and I tried Procardia it's still made me sick now we tried this one lisinopril 2.5 mg and immediately I noticed a tightness in my chest and I've been living in the bathroom without getting graphic. | I really had high hopes for this medicine because the doctor said that it helps your kidneys as well but this is yet another disaster! After all the years of blood pressure medicines have been out I find it hard to believe they cannot come out with one that doesn't cause so many issues. It's just mind blowing to me. However, I will say that the carvedilol that I take has helped me tremendously it's just that I keep having blood pressure spikes and they feel I need something additional to help that but I'm going to try to find another solution.
