| 1 | pain in occipital region | I'm no longer taking this medication. My neurologist prescribed it for moderate pain in the back of my brain accompanied by hyperthermia. Two weeks into the treatment, I developed rashes on my face, redness on my ears, hands and feet. Within weeks, the symptom was back, within days afterwards I was completely incapacitated. Shook and jerked all over, was told by surgeon to use a walker?!!?, sputtered and stuttered with great difficulty to talk, couldn’t sit without bouncing side to side, arms would flap and jerk, legs jerked and bounced when walking, getting up, head shook and jerked. Ended up in ER as this caused horrible pain in my neck and horrible anxiousness as I was “losing it”- control of my body. And once, feeling like something popped in my neck and felt like fire running down my neck. Sent to a neurologist and he wanted to give me Librium to mask this. I knew if I let them, I’d end up on tons of meds, so I went home, took Librium for the first three days of stopping gab- the symptoms lifted off me! Months later, still have internal shaking and bouts of bouncing but spine/neck are bad enough to cause. I was sad, extremely depressed, hopeless, uninspired to move, 5 days of sleeplessness at which point I was helped by my Doctor, hot flashes and chills, mussle contractions in my stomach, I wanted to die, be dead, anything not to live with how I felt . | When I was given Gabapentin I was told to continue with drugs I was already taking. I had been taking 3 10mg of Percocet a day for a month for nerve pain.. I was scared to take it when I got the horrible side effects of coming off Gabapentin so reduced the Percocet to 1 pill a day. The Dr. said that was the reason for my extreme side effects however as I read through all the responses, othersalso had many of the same symptoms I had. I've worked my whole life, I work 40+ hours a week. I am a very healthy, functional person exceot for pain in my back but I was unable to function for 10 days and was scared that I may never feel like myself again. I was afraid I would kill myself before I recovered. Today is 11-13-20. I'm 80% better abs hoping to continue to heal. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DRUG!
