| 5 | Back and leg pain | I don’t have any side effects from Gabapentin | Started this medicine four days ago. have been living with back and leg pain keeping me awake most of the night. I also have psoriatic arthritis along with herniated disks and leg pain. I take Gabapentin (neurontin) 300mg at night and it worked from the first night!! Will say LYRICA helped my anxiety a bit better and quicker (gaba takes 2 hours) but I found my legs, feet and body swelled up like being 6 months pregnant. Gaba was the first Rx I was put on. I dont' remember the dose or how long I was on it, but I'd say a few months, at different doses. Thankfully, it did not help my pain at all, b/c I never associated my cognitive problems with the Rx. I was too sick to make the connection. As soon as I got off it, my cognitive problems resolved instantly. I tend to get very rare side effects, and haven't seen this side effect listed in other reports of this Rx. | F | 62 | 1X day | 9/11/2019 | 1 | Nerve pain | Nausea, profuse vomiting. | My doctor had prescribed me a very low dose of Gabapentin to try (100mg)for nerve pain caused by my Adhesive Arachnoiditis and Tarlov Cyst Disease in lumbar/sacral region. I was to take it once a day because it was long acting. One thing I have discovered through DNA testing, (every patient needs tested) is that I am a very poor/slow metabolizer. Meaning it takes much longer for my body to filter out medications. I started vomiting about 1 1/2 hours after my first dose. That lasted almost all day. So the next day I ate a healthy breakfast before taking my Gabapentin. Again massive vomiting and this lasted all day! So the third day I tried taking it with food AND milk (milk coats the stomach in most cases) and again, vomiting but much worse. I couldn't stop vomiting. This has been like a miracle drug for me. I am also bipolar. Haven’t taken meds for years, but I remember when my Psych Dr wanted to put me neurontin which I’ve learned is the same thing. ( I DO NOT like to over medicate myself or mix prescription drugs, and at home I at least have control over that ).
