The side-effects annoying but they beat having nasty sores for more than a few days that make sitting down very uncomfortable. Eating something with the pills do help as does keeping well-hydrated. I'm hoping I don't get anymore outbreaks but I know if I get another one, there's some good stuff to relieve the worst of it.
