| 1 | GERD & Gastritis | Vertigo! Light headed! Heart palpitations! Headache! Muscle soreness! | Dexilant sent me to the ER twice in one month! After taking it for almost 2 months I was driving to work and became dizzy, managed to walk the 1/2 block from the parking lot to work and had to call 911! My dr changed all my bp meds thinking that might be it. 2 weeks later I was back in the ER with heart palpitations and vertigo along with shortness of breath, both times my heart rate had dropped to 48! I thought I was gonna DIE! The only thing different was the Dexilant, while it did help the gerd the side affects are not worth it!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DRUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | F | 53 | 60 days 60mg | 12/7/2019 | 3 | Gerd/nausea | Consult with new gastro doc gave me samples of 60mg of Dexilant. I have had issues with nausea since I was 19, and no other drugs have worked to control it. I have been prescribed Zofran as a bandaid solution. First 3 days of taking Dexilant, I felt like an entirely new person! Zero nausea. But on the 4th day I started getting dizzy, vertigo, feeling as if I was moving when sitting still. I had almost every test imaginable....blood tests, stool tests for bacteria and parasites, barium swallow and abdominal ultrasound. All came back negative, but I was experiencing constant burning and gnawing in my gut and could barely eat. I lost 20 pounds in a month. My GP originally prescribed Pantaprozole, which I took for three weeks. Didn't help. Then he prescribed Dexilant 60 mg. It did get rid of the burning and gnawing, but after being on it for 2.5 weeks, I started getting extreme fatigue and my appetite diminished further. I didn't want to do anything or go anywhere and I started to lose even more weight. Felt very sick so took a slice of Ginger to chew which helped. Now, 6 hours later feel totally spaced out with pressure across the chest, sneezing, GIT Pains, very loose stool. | This was recommended to me by a doctor after he wanted to give me Pantoprazole 40 MG. My experience with Pantoprazole over years has been bad but this Dexilant is even worse. Nightmares with muscle and bone pains make sleep almost impossible. I was prescribed 60 mg twice a day. I took these religiously, and within a week, my GERD symptoms improved greatly. The only negative thing, is that nothing else works for me, and once I stop taking it, all the progress is lost, and I feel just as worse as I did before my treatment. I have read that dexilant is not a medication that is intended for long term use, so I tried to get off of it, since I was feeling so great. A month after stopping it, I feel almost worse than I did before I started it.
