3 | Insomnia | It seemed to moderately help with sleep on the 2mg. I'd occasionally get the bad after taste but assumed it was from the pill hitting my tongue. I recently got bumped up to 3mg and the horrendous after taste is ten times worse. The after taste is so bad I'm actually WAKING UP because of it. Kind of defeats the purpose of the drug. I'm gonna have to give it up which is a shame since nothing else works for me | I don't know what exactly is the cause of the horrendous after taste, but anything that could possibly be done to at least lesson it to a tolerable level would be a huge help. | F | 32 | 30 days 2-3mg 1X day | 7/21/2022 | 2 | Insomnia | First night took 1 mg was great slept 7 hrs. Next night's were hit & miss. Could not feel drug working, just lay head on pillow and hope it takes effect? So at my age I have to wake up & pee which gets me totally awake. Then I take another 1mg & usually puts me back to sleep until next pee @ 3:05a thereabouts. Wake up around 4:30 to 5:00am & just stay in bed. | It's not working for me last 3 nights 3 to 4 hrs sleep. Miserable! I have a lot of personal problems that keep my mind racing. Can't control thoughts. This & peeing works against me. Does anyone my age range or any age have a combo with another sleep aid that works for them? Thanks. | M | 81 | 13 days 2ng 2X day | 6/16/2022 | 1 | Insomnia | This drug had terrible side effects for me that got worse the longer I was on it. I felt mentally impaired and extremely exhausted and depressed to a degree that terrified me until I realized that the medication was causing it. By mentally impaired I mean I had trouble walking, concentrating, and finishing even the most simple task. My limbs kept going numb and at times I disassociated. I was unable to stop crying and couldn't feel positive emotions for weeks on end. I saw my psychiatrist about my worsening mental state and she didn't mention that these could be side effects of Lunesta - so instead she prescribed me adderall and I kept taking the lunesta. The adderall helped with energy a bit but I was still feeling so mentally impaired and depressed. Eventually it clicked that my symptoms had gradually gotten worse the longer I had been on lunesta. I stopped taking lunesta 10 days ago and slowly have been getting better. Today is the first day my normal energy levels are back a | I would not recommend this drug to anyone who suffers from depression or has been through a depressive episode before - made me suicidal. | F | 32 | 4 months 3mg 1X day | 6/9/2022 | 2 | Insomnia | I am done with this medication. This bitter taste it leaves in your mouth is DISGUSTING. I can deal with a lot of side effects but this taste lasts for days after taking it. Water literally taste like poison. Food is gross even my favorite meals. I've tried taking it with acidic drinks but it only mildly calms the taste. I've even taken it with peanut butter, marshmallows, wrapped in turkey, everything. The bitter metallic taste just lingers. Works ok for sleep but even at high doses doesn't keep me asleep. I'm going to ambien. Done wanting to vomit everyday from Lunesta. Good riddance. | Put a coating or something on the pill that gets rid of the god awful taste. | F | 33 | 3 months 4mg 1X day | 5/14/2022 | 5 | Couldn't sleep | Love this. I get at least 7 hours of sleep. No grogginess in am. The metallic taste went away after a couple weeks. Ambien quit working for me 6 months in. Switched and am glad I did | F | 65 | 0 years 2 mg 1X day | 4/4/2022 | 2 | Insomnia | Weight gain, severe depression, worsening anxiety, suicidal thoughts, sleeping too long, sleepiness lasting way longer than 8 hours. | It took me a while to realize what was causing the weight gain and suicidal thoughts/depression. I'm on the generic version, and have read brand name is better, but most insurance won't cover it. I already have Major Depressive Disorder but was in a state of depression I hadn't been in since my Mother died 7 years ago. Scary enough that my therapist has threatened the psychiatric ward/police on me several times. Generic brand needs to be studied more in relation to its psychological effects since clearly it effects serotonin/dopamine somehow and shouldn't be prescribed to patients with depression or the potential to have it. This is a DANGEROUS drug and wouldn't be surprised if a lawsuit isn't taken out on the makers of the generic brands. | F | 40 | 90 days 3mg 1X day | 3/28/2022 | 5 | Insomnia | It's definitely the best on the market for insomnia. My DR warned of the metallic taste before prescribing but when you need real sleep it's worth it. It's non addictive like Ambien n is a much smoother coarse from going to sleep n starting the next day! | M | 31 | 100 days 3MG 1X day | 3/20/2022 | 3 | Insomnia | Major dry mouth/metallic after taste | Lunesta itself worked wonderfully for my insomnia. I would sleep through the whole night no issue. And would usually feel refreshed the next day...however that after taste I would wake up to was God awful. It literally made everything i ate or drank taste gross. So i barely ate much of anything when i was on it. I tried to mask the taste by chewing gum throughout the day but it does nothing to help. I figured well its a side effect i might have for a while maybe it'll go away? Well two weeks passed...it didn't. I also realized when I would take it again the following night I'd wake up the following morning with the taste. So a few times i tried just not taking it and woke up with the taste gone. But of course my sleep was back to being bad. Basically if i continued to take the medication multiple days in a row the after taste would stay. Only if i skipped a day would it go away. Tried everything including attempting to alternate maybe take it every other day...but it wasn't good for my sleep. Sadly wasn't able to withstand the major dry mouth. Also want to note that while I had that going on I felt like I was always thirsty and no matter how much I drank water (along with the fact it tasted gross) I'd still be thirsty. I've been through 5 different sleep medications and it's a shame that if not for the side effect this medicine honestly would be perfect. | F | 27 | 22 days 5mg 1X day | 3/11/2022 | 3 | Insomnia | I would get a horrible aftertaste after talking it, and would wake up with it still the next morning. It would last all day, and then it would start all over that night when I took it again. And was still there when I woke up, and then all day. It was never-ending. I switched off of it as soon as I met with my prescriber again, because it was bad enough that any pros were outweighed. I didn’t know about any of the ways to try to mask the taste that I am now seeing here, and my prescriber must not have known about them either, as that never came up. | F | 37 | 1 months 20 1X day | 3/7/2022 | 4 | Insomnia caused by Fibromyalgia | Like most of you, I get that very bitter taste in my mouth that makes liquids taste horrible. After trying everything I could think of, I finally came across these "Vegan Empty Capsules" On Amazon. So I now put my pills into these clear and it cuts the taste down, I think because it dissolves with the capsules in my stomach. I hope this helps. I LOVE the sleep I get from it. It's the only one that will work for me. Good luck to y'all. | F | 52 | 4 days 2 mg 1X day | 3/5/2022 | 5 | Sleep Disorder | Metal mint taste. It's depends how much you drop it right down the throat. Take the pill and open up your throat, head back and chase with a bottle of water. If you take it normal and it sits on the tongue in any way, the metal taste is more evident. It does change your palette for at least two days, everything is "minty" or cool, like peppermint um. | For the amount of sleep I get, I jam that pill straight down and don't let it touch my tongue or back tongue or sides. Open up and drop it in. | M | 50 | 4 weeks 3 3X W | 2/19/2022 | 5 | Insomnia | I love lunesta. It slowly puts you to sleep like your normal sleep cycle would. Who cares if it tastes bad. If you are a true chronic insomnia you will take anything to help you sleep. Wonderful sage drug. Non addictive. | M | 55 | 100 days 3mg 1X day | 11/3/2021 | 5 | Rls | It has been the only medication that has helped my legs for our RLS and for leg cramps that I get severely... | I think it's the best thing on the market for restless leg syndrome and leg pain, I get a full night's rest when I take it | M | 40 | 1 years 3mg x2 1X day | 10/5/2021 | 3 | Insomnia | Horrible taste in month does not go away. It does allow me to get a good night's sleep, but I sometimes feel really groggy and tired the next day. Some other bad side effects I have experienced are constripation, jaw pain and constant need to burp. These are documented side effects. | Started on Lunesta due to insomnia linked to depression. I can't wait to get off of it because of the nasty side effects it has on me. | F | 69 | 3 weeks 3 mg 1X day | 8/22/2021 | 3 | Insomnia | It doesn't help me fall asleep that I have noticed. It takes about 2 hours to actually feel sleepy. Also I still get up at night sometimes twice. The next day I'm okay but feel blah. | It is the only thing that works somewhat for me. Melatonin was the worst and Ambien was the second worst in that I felt awake while I was sleeping. But I wish I felt refreshed after sleep which I don't for the most part. | F | 54 | 2 years 3 mg 1X day | 6/16/2021 | 1 | Insomnia | I feel very tearful snd anxious in the morning after being awake for about 2 hours. Then I start to feel rage and anger. | F | 46 | 30 days 3mg 1X day | 5/27/2021 | 4 | Insomnia | Dang!! The only side effect I got was that water and milk started tasting nasty! I love water, so...bye bye Lunesta!! Cant handle that bad taste! | Lunesta did work well for sleep, id recommend it. | F | 54 | 30 days 3MG 1X day | 5/26/2021 | 5 | Insomnia | Tastes super gross but sleeping well makes it worth it! Can't they coat that thing so it's not so barf-worthy?! | F | 36 | 1 years 3mg 1X day | 4/30/2021 | 5 | Imsomnia | Just an unpleasant taste | Best sleep. I've ever had. Can't imagine life without it. | F | 51 | 10 months 3 mg 1X day | 3/29/2021 | 1 | Insomnia | After taking this medication for a while I became extremely depressed - thought and visualized ways to commit suicide- depression was so deep caused physical pain. Dangerous drug | M | 48 | 1 years 3 1X day | 2/9/2021 |
