ZYPREXA  (OLANZAPINE):  Olanzapine is used to treat certain mental/mood conditions (such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder). It may also be used in combination with other medication to treat depression. This medication can help to decrease hallucinations and help you to think more clearly and positively about yourself, feel less agitated, and take a more active part in everyday life. Olanzapine belongs to a class of drugs called atypical antipsychotics. It works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural substances in the brain. Talk to the doctor about the risks and benefits of treatment (especially when used by teenagers). See also Precautions section.   FDA Approval Date: 1997-09-09 (Sources: U.S. Centers for Medicare Services, FDA)

3   It helped calm me down when needed, slowed me down, and controlled my paranoia/delusions. Be aware of this medication once you quit, or lower it. Say goodbye to sleep? your sleep is f***ed up for a while! I hadn't slept in close to a week to ten days. once I got off maybe a hour or two tops! That alone can make you go ! It takes some people many months for the neurotransmitters to reset again once off this medication. Take at your own risk!! and do thorough research before starting. Weight gain, fatigue, possible TD, control symptoms. 31 0 days

2   I'm going crazy Coming off of this medicine going on one month on June 12th. It's been hell of a ride to say the least!! Had I known what I know now I would have never touched more than 2.5 mg. First ten days off I was ok. After that not getting rest, I'm barely sleeping it reminds me when I become manic, I'm taking another medication to control my symptoms.how long can one possibly go without having Full adequate sleep a night? Without causing health problems, Such as stroke, heart problems? Variables to consider... Taking melatonin sometimes it knocks me out other times I just lay there exhausted, but cannot go to sleep! Anyone have solutions, or going through this please contact me 0 days

5  Depression, Anorexia N,O.S. Anxiety Better Sleep, reduced intense fear and mood swings, better focus, cold sweats at night, increased fear in open spaces, everything was harder on my body that was semi-strenuous, heart palpitations that finally made me quit. I really need this drug to find a replacement to Remeron for reasons specified above and my medical history. None of my problems are intentional. I don't understand what has happened to me. What I can say is Zyprexa means the very best and the very worse to me- I"ve taken it briefly 3 times- and lasted a month max all 3 times. I by far love this drug the most, but after getting heart palpitations (was already having stomach distress after eating I noticed), I gave up out of fear. ONCE AGAIN MEDICAL INDUSTRY: Thanks for breaking my heart. But don't you know fellow patients: "We Never Try". To the medical industry: F YOU. -Andrea F 29

5  insomnia, agitation Not much, but I don't take it regularly. Maybe some agitation or heightened state about 18 to 24h after taking it. Really makes me sleep when nothing else does. Always works. 2.5mg will usually be sufficient, too. Never needed more than 5mg. Will use sparingly given the risks involved with regular use. But I truly love it-- it helps when I need it. I have to take it some 2h before bedtime, since it takes some time to work. And either take it early or be able to sleep the next morning. It's very calming and pleasant and hasn't caused habituation or lost effectiveness for me. F 28

4  Bipolar/mania Weight gain, drowsiness (early on), VERY expensive - get samples from your MD, feeling of being high (early on)...people around you might notice I started taking this medication for severe manic/irritability episodes and it seemed to work very well. Took me a few days to adjust...severe drowsiness at first and an appetite like I've never seen. These did pass over time and it doesn't take long to adjust to it. Only drawback is the price....VERY expensive ($300 or so for 30) so get samples or see if you can get Eli-Lilly prescription assistance M 26

3  Cops arrested placed hospital Inomnia? I think this medication 10 mg is a great stress reduceer. I started sleeping later then all of a sudden Insomnia hit me so I stupidly started to take seroquel 50mg <------- makes you a stonned zombie now I have insomnia ever after taking seroquel I've tried different sleep meds but they are short lived my advice don't take any of this crap if possiable especially if someone brought you to the mental health floor and they were dressed in blue. I had no choice I had to take it like a big medicated wuss otherwise they would ship me off to a really metal ward. M 31
