It was extremely helpful for depression and boy did it cure my insomnia. But I gained 70lb, and ultimately became hopelessly apathetic about everything. Memory, especially long-term, became dreadful. Remember better now but have lost lots of old memories. After he'd been on it for one month, he attempted suicide by taking the entire bottle of luvox, a gallon of rum, and a pain medication he had for a previous injury. He was in intensive care for a week, another week on a pediatric floor, and another 3 weeks in a psych hospital. While in the psych hospital he was put on Zoloft, 100mg, and it's working wonderfully! If you're taking an antidepressant and don't feel it's working, TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR, antidepressants work differently for different people. I'm a registered nurse, and though I have knowledge of different medications, I just kept thinking the Luvox would start working soon.
