2 | Nerve pain from spine | After only 6 days I had to wean myself off because I gained 6 lbs thanks to my severe hunger pains in my upper stomach area. Even after eating the hunger pains barely went away.. I tried water, I tried protein, I tried sugar, I tried carbs, and nothing worked until I started weaning off. The nerve pain for which I received this medication was less pain and discomfort then this medication and just not worth it. The nerve pain did dwindle a little bit, but I will never take it again | F | 51 | 6 days 100 1X day | 8/13/2022 | 5 | Nerve pain from shingles | This medication really helps my nerve pain without upsetting my stomach like NSAIDS .It does make me feel a bit silly, like I’ve had a glass or two of wine. That’s fine with me because I’m retired. I’m not sure I’d want to work with these side effects- lol. If I take less I don’t feel the side effects, but I also don’t get the pain relief. I’m sure the effects wear off after you get used to the medication. | This is a very good medication for nerve pain for me. I have had other nerve pain and opioid medication doesn’t work as well. | F | 56 | 1 months 300 mg | 12/30/2019 | 1 | Shingles Pain | Drug caused tremors and drunken like behavior. Stopped taking it after 9 days and now trapped in withdrawals that are causing severe chest pain and hypertension. | Can't get any help, no one wants to admit the withdrawals from this drug can cause such pain. I'm 84 already suffering from CHF and COPD. I couldn't go back on it and taper because it slowed my breathing. There is an FDA warning about this just came out. No one will help or admit responsibility. | F | 84 | 9 days 100 mg 3X day | 12/30/2019 | 1 | Spinal stenosis pain | Took at night and sedating effects lasted throughout the next day. Disoriented at night and heightened confusion in my mom with slight dementia | Would not recommend use in the elderly | F | 83 | 5 months 100 mg | 6/1/2019 | 2 | Possible neuropathic pain due to di | Anxiety, agitation, weight gain | Started with 300 mg a day and slowly titrated to 900 mg a day. While titrating I had very bad morning anxiety and agitation, and I gained 2 kg in just two weeks. My neuropathic pain didn't subseed maybe because it wasn't neuropathic at all. I h gave it a try but it wasn't for me. | F | 44 | 45 days 300-900 MG | 5/30/2019 | 5 | migraine prevention and pain relief | It’s a life saver for intractable migraine | F | 44 | 10 years 300 x 3day | 7/17/2018 | 3 | Nerve pain from nerve damage | A little scattered brained at first- sort of tired, sort of high feeling... these effects lessened over time. I think it makes me hungry, but I’m not sure-I changed other meds, too. | There aren’t a lot of good meds for nerve pain. Gabapentin can really help. I have taken it off and on at different times throughout my 20+ years dealing with nerve damage. I’ve never had a difficult time stopping it. Everyone has their own experiences, though. I find this mild compared to many of the other options. | F | 55 | 1 years 1800 daily | 5/11/2018 | 1 | Chronic pain, autoimmune neuropathy | This was my second attempt at taking this drug. Years ago I took a much larger dose and stopped because it made me literally freak out. I agreed to try it one more time at a much lower dose. On the 7th day I bumped up the dose as directed and went to bed. Woke up and felt afraid. I was groggy but agitated and felt like I wanted to punch or hurt my partner. That scared me terribly. I am a gentle person. I was pacing back and forth. I felt very afraid and crazy. I called pharmacy and my doc. Was told to stop immediately. Scariest reaction EVER. Incidentally, my nerve pain was worse during the 7 days. Feel much better today but can't wait until this med is out of my system completely. | Horrible! Made me feel afraid of myself. | F | 48 | 7 days 100 1X day | 5/6/2018 | 5 | Proctalgia fugax, bunion pain, ibs- | Dry mouth, double vision | I increased the dose to 300mg a day. I also take 195mg trimipramine and 5 mg amitriptyline. I have cfs/ME since having severe viral infection 3 decades ago. Constant urgency has been very distressing. Been on numerous gut meds but this helps the most. I notice I am calmer. Still anxious about travel in case the bowels go.hopefully this will lessen over time. I now have some control over when I go. If I take a couple of cups of tea I end up going to the loo. Prior to gabapentin I was going numerous times a day and had to be very careful about what I eat. I can also eat a bigger range of foods without having to run to the loo. | M | 51 | 10 months 100 3X day | 11/16/2017 | 3 | Fibromyagia, other nerve pain | When I first started gabapentin I would be extremely loopy, and have brain fog which subsided after about a month. Within the last 6 months to a year, I've become very forgetful, and agitated at the slightest things, depression and anxiety have also crept up. Loss of sex drive has been another issue. | I feel this can be a beneficial drug for some, I think it shouldn't be used long term, because of the effects on the brain. It worked well for about 3 years, but the risks started to outweigh the benefits. I don't know if I'd recommend this drug, on one hand it helps with nerve pain immensely, on the other hand to Greek like you're losing your mind is gawd awful. | F | 30 | 4 years 2,400mg da | 8/13/2017 | 5 | nerve pain disc disease | no lasting side effects. | I felt a little sleepy and had blurred vision until I adjusted to it. It has helped a lot with some of the pain, and it stopped hot flashes. I'm long past menopause but I had severe hot flashes and shooting nerve pain like being stabbed. Both of these stopped with the neurontin. | F | 72 | 3 years 600 mg 3X day | 8/7/2017 | 1 | Chronic Pain | I was given no data sheet with this drug nor advised of any likely side effects by my GP. The pharmacist advised that Neurontin could lead to feelings of being out of the body, at least for time. That scared me. I decided to start light and only took about 1/3rd of a 300mG capsule. I was like a drunk, walking down the hall in the house and banging into the walls. I felt totally out of it and kind of detached like depersonalization maybe, Within two days (two doses) my stomach burned so bad I threw them all out. I felt terminally depressed while taking this drug, and thought often about suicide. Whoa this is evil stuff. Did help my pain a little bit but too scared to continue with it specially when you read the reports of a number of people in their 50's who have died sudden deaths while on it. I would never recommend this drug to anyone. | It is quite well known now that there were "issues" with some of the so called clinical trials of this drug. It worries me and amazes me that some GP's even in New Zealand where we do not yet have the excessively restrictive regulations on prescribing Opioids for pain that are in the U.SA. , that anyone would ask a patient to take this poison. I know others who have used it too and to a one they all got rid of it. | M | 56 | 2 days 300mG 1X day | 4/14/2017 | 1 | Neuropathy pain | Last year I developed problems walking that doctors chalked up to a concussion a few months earlier. One year later, still have balance problems and have struggled with convulsions, tremors, mental confusion, lack of energy for past month or so. Been to countless doctors and accused of having mental problems. This drug has turned my life upside down! Total nightmare. | F | 49 | 3 years 200 2X day | 3/30/2017 | 1 | Fibromyalgia and nerve pain | Extreme nausea, constant heart palpitations, severe sweating, migraines. | This medication has caused me to feel probably the worse I've ever felt in my life and thats saying something after recovering from pneumonia, a pulmonary embolism and a DVT. Do not take it. | F | 55 | 3 months 3X day | 3/22/2017 | 1 | Chronic pain | Dizzy, poor balance, facial swelling, couldn't stay awake, foggy brained | F | 42 | 3 days 300mg | 3/20/2017 | 1 | Nerve pain | Anxiety, poor balence, rash, itching, blurred vision, swelling of face -feet-hands, feeling sick, rapid heartbeat. | For me neurotin was horrible! No help just added to my problems. | F | 7 days 100mg 6X day | 3/18/2017 | 1 | TMJ pain | Within two days of starting the drug my mood crashed. I started crying. I felt so unbelievably depressed and not ok. This was my worst fear come true. It's terrifying how quickly the drug took over. I called the pharmacist and I was told I could stop since I had only been on it two days. I'm not sure what else we can do for my TMJ pain while I wait for the specialist. The Dr. Told me I'm running out of options. | F | 33 | 3 days 100mg | 3/13/2017 | 3 | Fibromyalgia, CRPS, Sciatica, Pain | Anxiety through the roof, moody, crying, suicidal ideations, memory loss, trouble speaking. Emotionally, this is the worst I've ever felt in my life! Like seriously scary stuff. This drug may help some people but for me the side effects are just too much | It helps my pain but sadly the side effects are so bad that they outweigh the positives. Im weaning myself off, hope it's not as bad as some say to get off of. I am seriously close to committing myself on psych hold the depression is SO overwhelming | F | 48 | 2 months 200mg 3x | 1/31/2017 | 1 | Nerve pain | Twitching , sudden muscle movement | I have had a sudden twitch every once in a while . I can be holding something and my arm jerk and my hand suddenly open and i drop what im holding . This has been going on for years , I stopped taking neurontin a few years ago but the muscle twitch never stopped . I never experienced this until taking neurontin, so I know that this drug is the cause. | M | 36 | 1 months 1200 mg. | 1/21/2017 | 1 | nerve pain | Slow motion drugged loopy slept the day away..nausea and more pain and numb toes. | Bad stuff | F | 54 | 2 days 200mg | 1/2/2017 |
