ALTACE  (RAMIPRIL):  Ramipril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Ramipril is also used to improve survival after a heart attack. It may also be used in high risk patients (such as patients with heart disease/diabetes) to help prevent heart attacks and strokes. This medication may also be used to treat heart failure in patients who have had a recent heart attack.  1  hypertention Dry throat, irritating, tickly cough, including violent, coughing spells. Spent two months unable to sleep, Dr prescribed asthma meds. Thought I was going to become an invalid. Found this web site discountinued this med and all symptoms disappeared with 72 hours. F 54 2 months

 1  hypertension caused asthma like symptoms, could not breathe. samples (5 mg) from doctor worked fine, but problems started with the prescription filled medicene. would not recommend it M 42 17 days

 4  High Blood Pressure Tinglling on the left side of my body. tiredness, but daily dose of Vitamin B Complex and Multivitamine takes care of that. Good medicine overall with fewer side effects when compared to competitors. I have used ZIAC, VERELAN AND TARKA. SOME OF THESE ARE NIGHTMARES. M 49 2 years

 1  high blood pressure - diabetic Terrible hacking cough, often leading to choking. I thought I had asthma or chronic broncitis. Saw a new MD and she took me off altace ASAP. Hope it works since no OTC medication lessens the cough or severity. If ok with your MD, ask for Diovan. F 31 2 years

 4  HBP and high heart rate None noticed I am taking this in addition to TOPROL XL, so I am not sure. I do seem alot more tired, but my BP is down M 36 1 years

 5  high blood pressure Is increase in sex drive a side effect? I did lose a little sleep but that was from chasing the wife around WOW WOW WOW I feel normal again taking 2.5 mg caps oh yes ive also been a smoker for over 16 years and with all the concern with my health lately i stoped. all i can say was the best thing i could have done i feel so much better and cut the sodium out M 34

 2  high blood pressure/ migraines awareness of heart pounding, blood pressure rose to 160/116, pulse very rapid, felt very manic at times I have been on a beta blocker for a long time and may have been having such a bad time because the beta blocker was gone F 41 4 weeks

 3  blood pressure annoying, tickly cough nausea loss of taste for some foods arthritis in knee??? - not sure if this is what I have or if Altace caused it, but it's listed as an uncommon side effect on the Internet F 52 6 months

 1  High Blood Pressure – Pre-diabetes I have a dry cough and my throat is sore. During the day I have sudden coughing spells and I cannot stop coughing. People at work want to take cover thinking I have a terrible cold. I hate feeling like I am contagious. At night I awake up constantly. I am tried from a lack of sleep. I have a weak bladder and because I am coughing so such I wet thru the pad and wet my clothes. I HATE Lisinopril. F 57 3 weeks
