| 1 | bowl infection | extreme loss of appetite, fatigue/lethargy, general loss of interest in doing much of anything | I have been desperate to figure out what is wrong with my mother who recently finished a two-week regimen of this antibiotic. Unfortunately, the symptoms she exhibited were not offered on the paperwork that came with the prescription, nor from the pharmacist, nor from the doctor who prescribed the drug. I didn't make the connection until my niece - a nurse - told me of her personal and professional experience with this drug. Subsequently, this site has confirmed for me that I might be on the right track in helping my mother back to her usual self. My recommendation is similar to many on the site. I was given it through an IV during surgery on my ovaries and was not warned of the side effects. When I woke up I felt like I was pulling myself from the brink of death (so scary!) I was so sick that I thought something went wrong during my surgery until I realized it was this drug causing all my symptoms. I took the drug twice a day at 500 mg for 5 days. Like a lot of other people I had to make a trip to the ER to make sure that I was going go live. I'm still feeling effects of this medication 4 days after stopping it. I feel like a zombie.. or like I'm on some sort of bad acid trip. I don't know where I am half the time, my hands are numb and I'm so dizzy. When do these feelings go away?? I had nausea, confusion, trembling, very thirsty, vomitting, tingling down my legs, numbness, foggy head, very teary, depression, lack of interest in everything, by day 6 I felt extremly off balance and weak. | Although it has helped to clear up my infection, I work not recommend it due to the very bad side effects, I thought my world was over while taking it, I was working offshore while taking it and it made my life hell. No side effects were mentioned when he gave me the prescription and nothing mentioned at pharmacy. I am taking 3 x 400mg per day for 5 days. Day 1 - Chalky taste in mouth Day 2 - Metallic taste in mouth which doesnt go away. Almost like sucking on a 2p piece. Very dark urine Day 3 Dark urine, metallic taste in mouth, depressed, teary. Day 4 - Metallic taste in mouth, dark urine, tearful, confused/foggy and diziness, nausea Day 5 Furry mouth, dark urine, nausea, dizziness/confused, loose stools I have two tablets left to take thank god! My advice would be to take with food - drink plenty of fluids and remember the side effects wont last forever. I finished 2 days ago and since then have had really really bad nausea. So much so I had to leave work early. During the week I took it, it wasn't as bad. I did have minor side effects as listed but nothing as bad as after I stopped. I also developed a white tongue. This may be a sign of yeast due to killing good bacteria. I'm heading to doctor tomorrow to check. Instructions: place some honey in a spoon, drop the pill in the puddle of honey, & then drizzle some more honey to completely cover the pill.
