1  c diff difficulty walking, slurred speech, shortness of breath, extreme weakness/fatigue, insomnia, muscle twitches (especially in legs), brain fog/difficulty concentrating, SEVERE ANXIETY, depression, no appetite, weight loss, constipation, heart palpitations, dry mouth If you notice adverse side effects, talk to your doctor IMMEDIATELY, and get on another antibiotic if possible. What you are suffering from has a name--METRONIDAZOLE-INDUCED CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM TOXICITY. Basically, lesions are forming on your brain (specifically your cerebellum), and that's why you're having difficulty walking/speaking, etc. These lesions are reversible in about 85% of cases and almost everyone at least improves over the course of 3 months (people with only mood change problems especially have a better chance). However, taking more of the drug will cause the lesions to continue growing. The only thing that can detect them is an MRI. If you don't believe me, put "Metronidazole-induced Central Nervous System Toxicity" into Google, and you can find the case studies. I'm not a doctor; I'm just a victim of this effing drug and did my homework. It's 4 months out for me and I'm still having problems (although no longer debilitated by them). I just wish someone had told me what I actually had when I was bed-ridden and felt like I was losing my mind. Instead, the doctors told me the drug was out of my system less than a week after stopping, so "surely it can't be the drug." Totally lost faith in the medical system and will never take another drug without researching it beforehand. F 34 14 days

1  C-diff Wow! This drug is HORRIBLE! I've even had cancer and been on chemotherapy and no side effects quite like this. I feel like I'm coming out of my skin! Extremely agitated, irritable, anxious, and angry. Totally not myself and my family's paying part of the price unfortunately. I'm on day five of a 10 day course and I'm stopping. I'll call my doctor Monday and tell him I can't take it anymore and ask for an alternative. Whatever it takes. F 48 5 days

1  Infected Wisdom Teeth Severe depression, anger, sobbing, periods of numbness, not enjoying anything, not being able to focus, not being able to sleep, not wanting to get out of bed when I do fall asleep, tiredness, trouble moving my arms, aches all over my body, stomach aches, nausea, chest pain, headaches, dizziness, trouble speaking clearly, hallucinations, dry mouth every morning and throughout the day I already have a history of depression and since starting these a week ago, my life has been a nightmare. I wasn't sure if I was having a complete breakdown like I have in the past. I've been having suicidal thoughts aftet taking this medication, and this is the worst I've felt in years. I'm thinking this stuff is awful for anyone to take, but maybe way worse if you already have an established mental illness. Also, my teeth don't seem to be getting much better. I still have five more pills to take. I hope I never have to take this again. F 24 8 days

1  Fever, chills, supposedly fistulas. Agitation, anxiety, mood swings, anger, drowsiness, lack of energy, nausea, unable to sleep, loss of appetite. I will never take this medication again. I thought I was going crazy while taking it. Even was prescribed Lexapro for anxiety which made me sick. Thanks to this forum, I now know it was the flagyl making me feel this way. I've been off it for two days and I still feel its effects. I've changed GI doctors for a second opinion of my illness and hopefully will be feeling better. F 59 9 months
