| 1 | Stent in LAD | Had green laser done 10 years ago to fix BPH in prostate . Started Plavix after stent DES July 1 2016 after one stent. Was ok until I started seeing small blood clots in urine now and then . Urologist did cystoscopy . Problem bleeding coming from blood vessels hanging from prostate after laser for bph. Doctor said Plavix thinned blood enough to make those vessels bleed.Two weeks later I hemorrhaged . My cardiologist and urologist both said I can't stop Plavix . I called the support number on my stent card. I have the newest Resolute Medtronic stent. They would not offer advice as to stopping but directed me to the acc aha website. The latest report from March 2016 showed patients on Plavix for 3 to 6 months did no worse after discontinuing Plavix than those who took Plavix for 12 months. I stopped the Plavix after 3 1/2 months. Just taking baby aspirin . | This medicine is brutal. I had two brain surgeries in April 2015 after getting a bleed slipping on black ice. Her doctor would not take her off of it. He saying oh u have Parkinson's and gave her meds for that which made her sleepy all day.I took her to doctor where I live. Aspirin is better with less side effects. She began to walk better after 2weeks and have more energy. She only take apsirin 2-3 times a week. I took her get blood check and she was fine. Please listen to your body this meds kill u quicker. If u have to take it I suggest every other day. Get regular blood testing 2-3 months to make sure it's fine. | My dad was on Plavix and aspirin guess what he did in March brain stroke! Had I knew what I know now I would have taking him to doctor where I live. Doctor doesn't seem to care anymore! I asked my doctor why i needed be on these drugs? My weight, heart, cholesterol, overall health...everything was fine but, my electrolytes were dangerously low causing palpitations which i believe lead to the stroke. Shouldn't i be taking supplements for that and a good diet/exercise regimen instead? His reply was its no longer about what caused the stroke, its about risk and prevention and wanted me to resume Plavix along with adding Lipitor to my regimen. Folks, trust your instincts and take your lives back. I am experiencing some fatigue especially in the a.m. However, thankfully I feel pretty good otherwise and I attribute that to the fact I am continuing to exercise one hr. per day 5 days a week with weights, stretches and walking/jogging which I have been doing for the past 41 years. Also, with my wife's cooperation I am on DASH diet. The blender drinks she makes help a lot! I called my cardiologist and complained about the bruising and fatigue and she practically pleaded with me not to stop the Plavix, saying it would be only for one year. I intend to go off it by stages at that point and let the DASH diet do the rest.
