| 1 | After a heart attack | First started takeing lipitor after heart attack June 5 2015 weighed 195 pounds 6 percent bodyfat phisically fit. I lost 30 lbs of muscle in 2 months. I'm a shell of what I was along with the muscle wasting I experienced all of the side effects everyone on this survey has experienced headaches musclecramps,shortness of breath dizzy Ness blackouts,etc the side effects far outweigh what it's supposed to be doing. I took myself off and got back to exercising and watching my diet and I feel better. But it came to the point i could hardly stand without severe pain in upper back, neck and arms. Had an Mri of neck and shoulder. Some bursitis in shoulder but should not cause this kind of pain. Could not hardly use my arms and hands and my job was on a computer all day. Left the job and thought it would get better. Well it did not. Stopped the Lipitor 5 days ago and the pain is subsiding. | If at all possible just eat correctly. I was diagnosed at the age of 30 with Cholesterol at almost 400. Scared to death not to take it. But, i can't live with it either. Suffered for 3 months, then read online about the correlation between Lipitor and depression and anxiety. I stopped taking Lipitor cold-turkey that night. First 5 days after quitting were the worst as far as the depression and anxiety. Now, 2 weeks later I feel much better than I have in months. Still need the occasional .25mg Xanax to help with anxiety "spells". Life was rough for a few months and VERY dark for a week or so after quitting Lipitor. We thought it may be food poisoning. My husbands pain was so severe we canceled a pre paid vacation to New Orleans and went in to see the doctor- he dismissed his symptoms (no fever, etc.) and ordered an ultra sound. We left the office and almost drove immediately to the ER, as my husband was in so much despair. We decided to give it one more day, so he is taking heavy doses of pain meds. I ran across this website and now know our symptoms are from the lipitor!! We are stopping today, still can't decide if I need to take him to the ER or not? He is miserable!! I hope the side effects are quick to subside.
