My doctor informed me that it is also due to anxiety (I'm an anxious person). I've never had and physical symptoms of anxiety until After being on buspirone. A little less than a month of being on the med I had my first anxiety attack. That was at 7.5mg twice a day. I went to the ER and the doctor told me I should check with my doctor about it. I checked with my physician and he said to increase the dosage. I did so. 15mg 2 times a day. The attacks started to become more and more prevalent. I went on a trip for work and as soon as I got to the airport it felt like my sugars were going low (type 2 diabetes). I checked them and they were fine but the whole trip it felt as though my heart was going to pound out of my chest. When I returned home a week later I again met with my physician. I told him what has been happening and requested an EKG. Everything came back clear and (which was a relief). The doctor instructed me to continue with the higher dosage and we would speak again in a month at my regular check up. That whole time the symptoms continued as well as got worse. At my next appt my doctor told me to increase the dosage again. 30mg twice a day. I did this. Throughout the next 2 months my symptoms continued to worsen. (Literally felt like a 24/7 heart attack). I wasn't sleeping, I was irritated, and more anxious than I've ever been in my life! I had runny stools but I didn't care, anxiety in morning but didn't care, that tapered off. I'm now at 5 weeks, my neck and shoulders are stiff and extremely sorry (kept thinking I was sleeping some awkward way), feeling nauseous a lot, back to loose stools, crave carbs and sweets, feel like my blood sugar is low all the time, but maybe it's my blood pressure? I have extremely low blood pressure anyway. I'm not on cloud 9 any longer. I'm just kind of blah, not crying but not smiling either. My OCD is pretty bad, I think and think and obsess!!! I'm staying on the med because it's taken this long for all of these side effects to show up, so maybe they will come and go. I'm also calling my Doc today, because the stiff neck is really bothering me. I did have night sweats but they stopped and so did nightmares. Don't give up on this drug right away!! My doc talked me into trying it again expecting differant results and helping me quit marijuana because "pot is bad news".
