WRONG. i am normally a happy, secure, confident and not easily offended person, but this pill turned me into a complete wreck.. now i cry at the drop of a hat, pretty much every night and sometimes multiple times a day over really minor things. i get offended at pretty much everything. my boyfriend and i used to be able to joke around and be silly, but now he'll say things jokingly and i'll be pissed for hours.. i'm exhausted all the time, have no energy at all, and i know i'm no fun to be around.. i just feel miserable. i feel painfully insecure and paranoid in my relationship with my boyfriend even though i honestly know that things are fine between us. this is why i hate taking medication! if i would have known that loestrin would make me feel this bad, i NEVER would have taken it at all. luckily i didn't gain weight, get acne, or have any other side effects that i was concerned about. now i'm switching to avaine, though i am not too hopeful about that one either. i feel like i'm doing a chemistry experiment with my own body :/ | F | 20 | 2 months 1X day | 2/25/2011 | 3 | period regulation, birth control | hair loss, weight gain, moodiness, extra discharge, weird sex drive, depression, acne | i just cant find the right birth control. im losing SO MUCH hair. all the weight ive gained went to my stomach (not my boobs..shame). i never had acne before taking this birth control. also, i'm either compleeeetely lacking a sex drive or its really intense. its confusing. i think im going to stop taking it and try Estrostep 21. | F | 20 | 5 months 1X day | 4/9/2011 | 3 | contraceptive | weight loss issues, no periods whatsoever, breast inlargment (up one cup size in less than 3 months) | i really liked loestrin for like the first year and 1/2 i took it. i loved not having to worry about getting my period and never had a "scare". the only reason im stopping now after two years is because although it didnt make me gain weight it does make it really really hard for me to lose it. i generally eat really healthy and exercise and have no problem losing weight but after this past year at school (a winter of fast food- shame on me...) i need to lose some weight and am finding it impossible while on this birth control. im planning on regulating my body over the next year, losing some weight, and hopping back on the loestrin train. btw ive heard people complaining about this bc making their anxiety increase, i have a severe anxiety disorder that started before i took this drug and i havent noticed it getting worse after starting or better since ive stopped taking it. The side effects were awful while I was on the pill but a couple of weeks later most of the side effects disappeared. However, it is two months later and the depression still looms over my head everyday. Since I have always been happy, the girl that always saw the glass half-full, this has been a disturbing change and has forced me to seek therapy to elevate the dark cloud. After only a few of weeks, she changed from a happy, excited bride-to-be (very much in love with her future husband) to an agitated mess - angry, depressed, anxious, crying and panicky - convinced that she was making a terrible mistake getting married. Very out of character she started talking everyday to some random guy she just met, calling him her best friend after just meeting him! She didn't want to be with her fiance and no longer wanted to get married (after being engaged for close to a year and planning the perfect little wedding). Her personality completely changed - we were all so scared - my husband and I, her friends and esp. her fiance! It occurred to me that it might be the Loestrin - after all - hormones are responsible for some pretty serious stuff - Postpartum Depression can cause a mother to not love her newborn baby for goodness sake!! Anyway, I called her doctor and the nurse agreed that she should come off the pill. 3 days after quitting she returned to normal and literally cannot believe what the pill had done! The wedding is back on!! She will be using the barrier method for a while and maybe try ANOTHER BCP sometime in the future. I'm writing this because I thought you should know what Loestrin is capable of doing in SOME people.
