I am currently on Nexium, but still take tums and Pepto almost daily to deal with my pain. I am either over eating or completely nauseous all the time. My dr was referred me to a GI specialist to have a scope test completed. I am so glad I came across this site because in reading others reviews it made me think about when i started having stomach symptoms among all of the other side effects.In addition I have been irritable beyond any explanation. I started reading self help books because I have a great life but never feel happy. I have been using a rescue inhaler due to trouble breathing. My heart will race and I will get hot out of nowhere. I've also become paranoid and have been experiencing anxiety. I've had one full blown panic attack and have felt like I was on the verge of several more. I'm stopping this pill now. There seems to be a lot of negative reviews on this site but I honestly have never had an issue. Light periods, no weight gain, no depression. Everyone's body is different but I highly suggest trying it first before disregarding it. One thing: for the past few months I've been spotting about 2 weeks into pack - lasts for a few days and I still get my period as normal. I thought maybe I needed a stronger dose of hormone but my school's gynecologist suggested waiting as I've been under some intense stress finishing up med school and that spotting was a problem she commonly saw in other students. I thought that taking a pill seemed better than maybe having to have surgery later on so I took it for a few months. It was terrible. I have always hated birth control pills and this pill made me hate them even more. I have never suffered such horrible anxiety and heart palpitations (that have continued since I stopped taking the pill too - waiting for my hormones to regulate - I hope) The biggest problem with this pill is the loss of scalp hair. I have always been one who sheds quite a bit, but I also have always had a ton of thick hair. Lucky for me I started off with a decent amount. 2 months after stopping this pill I started losing tons and tons of hair. After research I have found that this pill has been found to cause that and it usually shows up about 2 months after you stop taking it. It is TERRIBLE. My self esteem has just been shot and I have been so anxious and depressed. If I would have known this type of hair loss would have happened after stopping this pill I would have NEVER taken it in the first place. I say don't walk, RUN away from this pill! I went to see my doctor today and she decided to take me off Loestrin because it has caused me to have high blood pressure and gain weight in a short period of time. She's switching me to Safyral (a new variation of Yasmin). Started Loestrin and was absolutely miserable the first week, mostly really horrible nausea. Everything seemed to normalize after that, but once I hit the placebos my acne returned to the severity it had been. Plus it's $75 a month, so I think I will try one or maybe two other options before giving up entirely. My OBGYN told me that a lower estrogen pill may fix it so I went to this. A week into lolo, I had bleeding and severe headaches. I continued to spot and I just now finished the first pack. My hair is a little bit more oily but not bad and no acne. I am 26 years old and I have always weighed around 116. I am now 120 and I have extreme bloating during my first period timeframe on this pill. I feel very self concious about it and my work clothes are pulling to make me look like I'm pregnant. I will give the pill a month or two more and if the symptoms don't improve I will get off birth control completely. Gained 20 LBS and went up 4 cups sizes in 1 year! | I started taking this for heavy menstrual bleeding & PMS symptoms-- my doctor recommended this one since it regulates length of periods. That part worked GREAT! I always have period at regular time, it is short and light and I feel great. My emotional moods seem to be regulated and this is almost a "happy" pill for me-- I feel GREAT emotionally. But this is not worth the downsides-- I gained 20 lbs exercising regularly and MORE than ever in just one year. I was already huge bra size before this (30FF) and went up to a 30HH in one year-- I had gone up an entire cup size in just a month after being placed on Loestrin24Fe. This is actually a disaster for me, I am considering breast reduction now and I stopped Loestrin24Fe and they DID NOT GET SMALLER! :( Also gain of 20 lbs dropped instantly 5 lbs when I quit it, but I have not been able to lose the additional 15 lbs. Don't get any period. | I started taking it a few months before I got married. I haven't experienced anything terrible, and the side effects are more good than bad. It completely cleared my skin, for one, and I don't get a period at all. There was slight monthly bleeding at the beginning, but it got less and less every month, eventually nothing. No PMS around that time either, I used to get terrible backaches, mood swings, and cramps. The one negative thing has been the effect to my metabolism I gained about 8 pounds after the wedding, and have found it extremely difficult to lose. I also feel a little bloated pretty often. I exercise a LOT and am used to controlling it easily, but I have only managed to lose 5 pounds after months of trying; I used to be able to get rid of that in a week, like after the holidays. My husband is a personal trainer, so I knew exactly what to do. That has been very annoying, but overall I am very happy with the pill considering the other things that tend to happen! I have never changed because of negative effects of this pill, only because other friends have raved about something they are on. I always come back to it. I've just learned that a common side affect can be a complete lack of period during usage, which I have just started experiencing.
