| 4 | Toenail fungus | Took this when i was 16 and taking it again i noticed depression is a big side effect. I have no allergies and usually tolerate medicines very well. But starting sometime last week I developed a terrible taste in my mouth. Others have described it as salty, but to me it feels like the inside of my mouth, mainly my tongue, is coated with pepper or something. I am also more tired than I used to be. If the side effects get worse, or I develop new ones, I don't know if I can keep taking this. I'm hoping that if I can just suffer with it for 4 months, I'll be happier in the long run. The first week I took it I experienced constipation, slight diarrhea, stomach upset. But a few weeks later i got over the symptoms mostly. About 6 weeks into treatment it was working fine, until I went to a party and drank a few beers, i got really drunk like i've never gotten before so i am pretty sure lamisil lowers your alcohol tolerance even though i was never warned about anything between the two(lamisl+alcohol=don't do it). The next day i was sick to my stomach, this is when I first got all of my symptoms for months/weeks to come. I had all kinds of blood tests, and expensive xrays, even a frickin stool sample- but everything looked good, my doctor pressed on my liver and it felt a little sensitive-but many liver panel tests showed no sign of anything wrong.I looked at this website and had a strong feeling it was the lamisil built up in my system. I immediately stopped taking the lamisil the day after the party. The symptom | I think the body takes a long time to get this stuff out of your system since it is a drug that builds and stays in the system for months. My father took this drug also and had no side effects-so this proves everyone is different. Also,I went to Greece/Europe when I had these symptoms and I asked a pharmacist over there about the drug lamisil and he looked it up and said that it is dangerous and very strong and only in America is it usually prescribed. The only reason I give this drug a rating of 2 is because it actually did clear up my toenail fungus but at an unbearable price(feeling like im gonna die for months)-i'll take the fungus anyday. I cant stress enough how depressed i was, terrible mood swings, my sex drive was gone, i self isolated. My hair first thinned out then started falling out a month later. Stopped falling out after about three weeks, waiting for it to grow now. Visibly thinner, nothing serious tho. Im very athletic and was mostly worried about the joint pain that took a long time to go away. I was prescribed Lamisil for 14 days, I stopped after day 9. The first day I took it I experienced a severe panic attack - I had had them before but that was something else... loud ringing in my ears in minutes after the attack. Occasional ringing out of nowhere, dry mouth, lost around 10 pounds,, was crying every 10 minutes (literally), great depression and frequent panic atracks, no will to live, tingling and burning in my scalp and feet, very tired even after full night of sleep, weak muscles, heart papiltations - short of breath even after just going to the toilet, non itchy rash on my palms,big bruises on my leg without hitting it, very bizzare vivid dreams every night almost like second dimension, uneasy tense feeling in my stomach, pain in my hips and lower back, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, thankfully my taste was ok because i put the pill in the back of my tongue. ALL THAT WAS HAPPENING IN 9 DAYS. I finally stopped on day 9 after i noticed my hair, leg hair and eyebrows got super thin and lifeless, my eyelashes fell out overnight I had 15 of them on my cheek when I woke up. After a week of stopping my joints started to hurt and pop - arthritis like pain in my knees, one elbow, ankles, wrists and fingers. The pain took 2 months to go away. Fungus started on ball and sole of her foot at swim class probably from shower at the YMCA. Doctors treated skin fungus but not before it got under her toe nail.
