| 3 | Prostatitis | I've taken Cipro twice now. It was a miracle the first time. Then I found this site and all these horror stories and it's stopped me dead in my tracks from ever putting another Cipro pill anywhere near my mouth. I switched today to a new drug that doesnt potentially ruin my life. I feel very sorry for all the people who've been injured by this drug and I pray I "get away" with having taken it unscathed. I thought the cloudy head was from being on a bland diet but I was on the diet a week before taking the antibiotics and never felt like this. It did make my stomach feel better however the racing heart was enough for me to call my Dr on call and stop the medications. I can't wait to get this crap out of my system... but now I need to find an alternative for my possible parasite!? Joint pain so severe I could barely move. It was curing the Prostatitis, saw marked improvement - but side effects too severe. The first day or so was not so bad but I noticed tension and aches in my thighs and knees. The third day though I spent the day outdoors and developed a rash of little red spots, not bumps over my chest, forearms, a little on my face, and even on my feet. This didn't itch and it faded mostly by the next day, but that night I got a *severe headache, I couldn't sleep at all, had to pee every 60 minutes, and became dehydrated. I also had aches in my back, neck and legs. It was an awful night. To it's credit, my diarrhea seems to be finished, but the side-effects were numerous and very uncomfortable and diconcerting. I finished the dose today but still have the headache and muscle ache and dizziness. | Take this if you have time to rest and are somewhere comfortable, because you probably will be made very uncomfortable. My neck and upper shoulders felt like there were two huge rocks fighting to get out. My fingers were popping and hurting at the joints. My ankle felt like something wanted to pop out of place when walking, muscles all over my body ached, not like the aching from working out, but from someone just punching the @!&! out of them for three hours. I'm 29 years old! Not to mention extremely dry skin and dry mouth. The pain and stiffness is virtually gone about 48 hours after coming off the drug. | It does do the job it's intended to do, no problem. My sinus infection was better in about 3-4 days and I haven't had any problems with that since. The side effects are monstrous though. I fancy myself having a tough mentality so it really has to hurt for me to be online searching about it and complaining about it in a post. My infection for which it was prescribed for, has all but gone so before I take any more I want to talk with my GP. Wow right, but the drug is curing my infection(s) so I guess it's a trade off. Amikacin, tigercylin, cipro, and many more the infectious disease doctor really had to work to contain the infection. Sent home 4 days later with Ciprofloxacin and Vicodin. Had no problems for 2 weeks. Follow-up with Dr on 10th. Learned I had an infection in my scrotum area. They prescribed Ciprofloxacin 500mg Along with Flomax. Stopped Flomax after 3rd day - Nightmare of a drug. But now have these side effects from the ciprofloxacin. Pain in my scrotum significantly reduced. But feel like crap. Feel like I'm sick with some flu. No energy, lethargic, irritable..And at night it's worse, Nausea and slight insomnia. Don't know if I would recommend this drug. Perhaps my rating is a bit premature. I have a tendency to feel this drug may do me harm. I do not understand the reviews on this website. I looked up studies on the incidence of any adverse reaction from this drug and the incidence is around one percent. Yet this drug has a rating of 1.6 out of five and most patients recommend against using this antibiotic. The studies I looked at proved it has fewer side effects than most other commonly used antibiotics. Is it possible that just the people with adverse reactions review drugs like Cipro? I noticed that all commonly dispensed antibiotics are terrible drugs according to the reviews on this site. | It was interesting to read reviews on this site. It seems that drugs that are well known to be highly toxic to the body and mind like speed (Methamphetamine and adderall) received among the best reviews. Even haloperidol, a neurotoxic neuroleptic that causes tardive dyskinesia in 30 percent of users and parkinsonism in over 50 percent of users has better reviews than this widely prescribed antibiotic. The flouroquinolones are available over the counter in most Asian countries (for example bangladesh). If they were crippling everyone then a large proportion of Asians would be crippled. The published studies on the safety profile of this drug (showing an excellent safety profile, better even than amoxicillin) and the reviews on this site do not match at all.
