Let me just tell you what my life was like before I started taking zantac: I lived in fear of eating anything, and I LOVE all food. For many years I suffered with stomach issues, it got to the point where after I ate just about anything (no matter the amount) I would have diarrhea, or feel so sick to my stomach I would be hunched over in pain. After I would use the restroom I would have a burning sensation down there that would last for at least 30 minutes, sometimes I would have to lie down it would cause me so much pain. After starting on zantac twice a day, ALL OF THIS CEASED. I realized then how bad my stomach problems actually were. I could eat whatever I wanted again, and drink coffee again, and now I only feel sick to my stomach when I actually AM SICK. My doctor said my sinuses were narrow so she referred me to an ent. The ent doctor said my CT scan was fine, except a deviated septum. I have been having a lot of post nasal drip due to what I thought was allergies and sinus problems. She didn't think my deviated septum was a problem and since they sinuses looked fine, she brushed off l my concerns and brought up acid reflux. I was skeptical because I had never had any problems with heartburn or any foods. She thought I could have had "silent reflux". So she prescribed me this terrible medicine. I was reluctant, but I have it a try. I even changed my diet. All the bad foods for reflux, I ate in moderation anyway, so I was confused. But I cut out coffee, soda, fatty foods, etc. I would then eat or drink say, a small glass of soda, or a piece of pizza, and would feel no different then before. No problems. The side effects started coming on within a few days, and it makes me feel sick. I'm not even sure I have any type of reflux, and it makes me so mad that the doctor just blew me off and sent me out with a prescription! I may be biased, since I don't even think I HAVE reflux, and it's just allergies….but this medicine has done nothing for me but make me feel sick, and I'm not even sure I need it, so I feel like I'm getting sick for nothing. | F | 22 | 10 days 150 | 9/29/2016 | 5 | GERF | Diarrhea and stomach pain with nausea | These side effects are new. Just started having them today. (6/20/17) Other than these side effects, I love this medication. I had just had a spinal tap done the day before. I ended up with what I assumed to be a spinal headache from the procedure. After calling doctors and a trip to the ER explaining my headache, (which has lasted 10 days), I was told my symptoms were not those of a spinal headache. I couldn't move, I stayed on the couch for days. Worse than any migrane I have ever had in my life. After coming to this website tonight and reading reviews, I realize it most likely was the zantac. Yesterday I felt human again, probably because I forgot to take the zantac. I have also never once experienced acid reflux until I started taking this. I took zantac around 5pm today with my other pills. It is now 3am and I still cannot sleep. I am sweating, my stomach is in pain , and my headache is back. This was very effecting at stopping the hives when I couldn't get them to stop with just the zyrtec, however, the worst symptom I had from the Zantac was diarrhea. Every time I would take it, I would have diarrhea within the next few hours! My entire body's muscles were achy and sore, I felt nauseated, experienced hot flashes and a tightening of my throat (lymph nodes became swollen), after 4 days my lymph nodes under my arms became inflamed as well. I developed a headache and my stomach really hurt. I do not recommend this medication to anybody who has any heartburn or stomach issues - it will make a simple problem worse. I developed all of these symptoms about 1 hour after taking the medication, and the side effects from it are not worth it.
