2 | Seasonal Allergies | Drowsiness, irritability/moodiness/sadness, weight gain/bloating | I moved to TX 6 years ago and started to experience seasonal allergies so, I took one Zyrtec everyday for about a year before I noticed the medication wasn't helping as much as when I first started taking it and I upped my dose to two pills per day for the next 4 years. Two months ago, I thought I had a severe sinus infection and the Dr. prescribed a Z-pak but I was still sick after 5 days and a blood test showed slight elevations in my liver enzymes so, I stopped taking all vitamins and medications for about two months. During that time I was able to maintain my weight, I wasn't as irritable and I had energy throughout the day. A week and a half ago I had to start taking Zyrtec again and I've gained 4 pounds, I'm bloated, irritable and I want to cry all day long. I will try taking half a pill before bedtime to see if that helps. Without Zyrtec I don't know what I'll do to keep my horrible allergies at bay! | F | 39 | 5 years 1X D | 9/15/2010 | |
4 | Seasonal Allergies | drowsiness | Since reducing my dosage to 5mgs per day I haven't felt the side effects listed before and, I still don't have horrible allergy symptoms. In short the lesser amount of Zyrtec is just as effective as a whole pill but the side effects are mostly gone except drowsiness for about an hour after waking. | F | 39 | 6 days 5 1X D | 9/21/2010 |
